Sub Chorionic Bleeds

Experienced some bleeding on 2 separate occasions and turns out I have 2 small sub chorionic bleeds--1 above the baby and 1 below. Haven't had bleeding since Thanksgiving and ultrasound showed strong heartbeat and baby measuring exact. I was told to "take it easy" (easier said than done with a full time job and a toddler!), no heavy lifting and pelvic rest (no problem haha). Anyone else experience this? My doctor said there's a chance of miscarriage although things looked good at my visit.

Re: Sub Chorionic Bleeds

  • I had a huge one! We found it at 4 weeks! I have also had many losses so I was on moderate bedrest! Mine is now gone at 7 weeks! I've had friends who found them and passed them in delivery, others have large bleeds randomly! Biggest thing, drink lots of water, elevate your feet when you can, no heavy lifting, try to take it easy, and if cramping accompanies, call the doc! Good luck!

  • I do. I have been spotting for 3 weeks now and they diagnosed it last Tuesday. I also have a toddler to chase around and carry all day (she just turned 1 a week ago). I'm totally scared because I can't take it easy or else nothing gets done.

  • I have a pretty decent sized one at 9+Wks. I didn't actually talk to the doctor since I went through ER while at work and opted to wait until morning to go for an ultrasound instead of calling them in at night. U/S tech told me what it was but nothing else. I took one day off work since the bleed happened while in the middle of a stomach virus. I'm going back tonight and just plan to take frequent breaks and get help with all my lifts and transfers (I'm a nurse so lots of physical work involved with the job). If I see that doc today I'll ask him what he thinks, otherwise I'll call my midwife Monday to chat (midwife is 4.5hrs away, I work in a small town hospital that doesn't deal with pregnancy). I put myself on pelvic rest and just try to sit when I can at home which is difficult with a toddler.

  • I was diagnosed with one this week after having a heavy bleed last Saturday night with severe cramps. Since then I have felt crampy and just had Brown spotting on and off. I have the same restrictions of resting with feet up as much as possible and no pelvic activity. However, I feel like whenever I do the slightest thing, I end up spotting more. For instance, my mom came over Wednesday after work with some sweaters she thought I could wear. I spent like an hour trying them on and then woke up in the middle of the night with heavier cramps again. I am afraid to do anything!
  • It's hard to just sit! Even when I get up to clean or play with my daughter I feel guilty! A friend of mine had a pretty big bleed at the beginning of her pregnancy and told me she bled it out over two weeks! So she bled and had to wear a pad but then it was gone and she went on to have a perfectly healthy baby. She was also told to rest and no heavy lifting---so that's what we will all do! To the best of our ability anyway :) I am normally very active and exercise often so this is really throwing me for a loop!
  • I definitely had one (small) with DS and I suspect I had one with DD, though they never looked for a source of the spotting with her.  I think the last time I saw blood with DD was at 9w and with DS at 10w.  I know it's something nobody wishes for, but a lot of times it turns out fine!  I went on to have two uneventful pregnancies and healthy babies :) They did encourage me to be on 'pelvic rest' but other than that didn't ask me to change anything.
