Hi! I have been lurking for a while and wanted to introduce myself and ask a question. My DH and I have been married 2.5 years and just started TTC a few months ago. I have been using OPK's, but never get a positive despite other physical O signs so I would really like to begin charting. The problem is that I travel for work and have a very irregular schedule and there is just no way I would be able to take my temp at anywhere near the same time each day (even if I set an alarm). I have read (parts of) TCOYF and also the small section on FF about charting while working shifts, but I was just wondering if any of you are in the same boat and what worked for you. Thanks so much! Good luck to all of you!
Re: Hi everyone...Newbie with a question
*raises hand* ME!!
It's tough, no doubt. Here's what's worked for me.
I started charting during a cycle I knew all my travels would keep me in pretty much the same time zone. That gave me one solid cycle (ideally, of course you should have a lot more than one). Since my cycles are very regular, I'm ok missing several days of temps as long as I am temping for the 5-6 days prior to, and past O. Do you have any control over when and where you travel? If you can set aside one week a month where your travels are somewhat sane it's possible... won't be perfect so you should try a different brand OPK, test cm, etc. as well as temping.
Good luck.
Thank you for the advice. I really wanted to chart up to this point, but it just seems so complicated with my schedule! I do have some control over where I travel so this month I am going to chart at least the days leading up to and right after O and will look into the CBEFM. I know they are expensive, but its no use spending $ on less expensive ones if they aren't helping.
Thanks and GL to all!
