Name question! Side eye away :-p

Hey all,

So my husband and I just found out we are having a baby girl. I have liked the name Lillian Grace for a long time. However, someone I just told my baby name too stole it. She had her baby 2 weeks ago! Ugh! So we can't come off Lilly Grace because we love it! We were thinking about Lilly-Anne (as one name, not sure on spelling) is that to "could be a made up name?) I just can't decide rather or not to keep my orginal name or change it a little to make it more unique.

Yea.. It's a friend. I told her a month ago and her response was, " I love that!" And she took it.

You still have a lot of time, so keep it on your short list. For shame on the name grabbing!

I wouldn't say super close, but we have the same friend circle. Only a few people knew our name choices, so I'm really mad about it.

That stinks! I'd say keep it anyway! This baby will be in your life forever, who knows how long this friend will be around...

What a terrible person!!!!! Keep the name and don't worry what other people think, you know it was originally yours. Don't change the name because of someone else, I would make sure you remind them whenever you see them that you are naming your child Lilly Grace because that is what you had originally chosen and you take it as a compliment that she decided to use that name for her girl too since she "borrowed" it from you. Just be nasty nice! She knows what she did, but give your girl the name she deserves! ;;)

Can I thread jack? I am in a similar situation! I always wanted to give a baby my maiden name (Harrison) and my SIL (that knew this) just named their baby Harris!! Is it jacked up if I don't care and still go with it and my baby has a cousin with a very similar name?

My little brother has the same name as a cousin. It hasn't been a big deal! The posters are right, we shouldn't change our names because of someone else!

I love Lilly-Anne just as much as Lillian. Choose whichever you like best! Unless you are close to this friend, don't worry about having the same name.

Name your baby the same name, smuggly tell her, then say you are done with her...you don't hang with theives.

I love Vivian, but it's my husbands little sisters name. We thought about using it, but we have 13 siblings between us, all are begging us to use their name. We didn't want any jealousy. Grace is his moms name. If we were having a boy we were going to use Conner Wesley, my maiden name, and DH middle name. I like using family names! It's still on the short list for sure!

Use it anyway! Sorry that happened though. But look, like a PP said, this baby will be yours forever. If anyone if your circle asks why you choose it, just say it's a name you've always loved and wanted to use it. and just because XYZ friend named her daughter that didn't change your mind.

My brother is Nathan and our cousin was called Nathaniel. If you like the name do it!

keep the name and when people ask why they are the same then you can tell them that you gave your friend the great name. she's a douchcanoe
