What do you think parents should need/want/look for in a car?

We've got to get a bigger vehicle, as my husband's car is a two seater.  I, frankly, hate car shopping.  I can't drive, so I don't care about features and this and that.  So long as it's a smooth ride and has room, it doesn't matter to me, so I guess I mostly ask to help my husband.

  • There was a big discussion on this not too long ago if you want to try searching for that.

Personally, I want a car that I want to drive because I'm the one having to drive it around. Obviously it has to have enough seats for the kids but I am sticking with cars forever because I only plan on having two kids and they're what I prefer to drive. Extra trunk space is nice though too :)

  • We got a new vehicle last Christmas.  My main concerns were safety, car seat compatibility, storage capacity, and price.  One thing I wish I had in this car that I don't is rear vents.  I have a very sweaty baby and it gets really hot in the summer here.

  •   Safety ratings are a big plus for me.  I also want a top tether (what you need to use a forward facing car seat) in as many seat positions as possible.  A must for a 5 seater would be 3 latch positions and 3 top tethers for as many options with car seats.  Vents in the back that you can control would be nice.  My car only has front vents and my children get cold in the back.  Tinted windows in the back would be nice as well.
