My E2 seems kind of low....

I had my bloodwork done this morning (no ultrasound) and after 5 nights of stims, and my E2 was only 145.  Does this seem really low to anyone?  I am currently taking 150iu of Gonal-F, and they told me to continue the same dose tonight and tomorrow night, and then go back in on wednesday for u/s and b/w.

I wish I could remember what my numbers were for my previous cycles... to be honest, I don't think anyone told me until closer to ER.

Thanks!

Re: My E2 seems kind of low....

  • Hmm...after 5 nights, that does seem a bit low. Maybe they are taking the slow and steady approach with you though. Plus, it seems that your levels really take off after night 5. I bet your next b/w and u/s will have jumped up quite a bit.

Epphd has a great graph to show how your levels exponentially increase. You can page her for it if you want.

Good luck! I know the stress of E2 levels :)

  • That does seem low to me too, but mine was pretty high. On day five mine was 1891, and they decreased my follistim (from 350 to 225) bc my E2 was too high.

    Did they seem concerned?

  • Hmmmm...I'm not sure what mine was at that time either.  Your RE must think it's a good number since your dosage is staying the same. There's always something to worry or obsess over isn't there?  I hope your level is progressing nicely by Wednesday.

  • Trying...  I know isn't this stressful?!   Too high, too low, there is so much to worry about!

MewMew ... I asked if the number was low, and the nurse said it was fine.  I'm guessing that they couldn't be too concerned because they didn't increase my dosage at all, but who knows.  I am cycling with a new RE this cyce, so I am not that familiar with the system here...

  • cmwbobo - I supposed you're right. They must think it's okay. I was so terrified they would cancel me when I heard it was that high. I hope it all works out for you. Please keep us updated!!
  • As long as it is increasing from baseline you're doing great.  As you proceed your numbers will start nearly doubling over night, so it's better to start of low and slow than to have to pull back on the meds - which isn't great for eggs.  My E2 was in the 400 or so range after 5 days for the three IVFs that I got data for, and I stimmed on 112-150U nightly.  However, for the one cycle that I did not ask for E2 levels on (IVF#3, I was trying to not be a control freak about it), I did learn that my final E2 level was under 2000, and we still got 16 eggs.  So indeed - try to let go if you can :)

Also - my E2 levels were strangely lower on my one antagonist cycle than on my lupron cycles.  As long as your doc is happy, you should be too.  easier said than done, right?!?

  • After 5 days mine was only 58 - I was freaking out.  I tend to be a sh*tty responder though so they convinced me be happy with whatever I could get.  On the day I triggered it was only 682.  Miraculously we somehow got 8 eggs, 6 of which were mature.  4 did beautifully and made it to blast on day 5. I know that for most people that would be disappointing, but we have 2 frozen embryos so I'm happy.  Anyways, where I was going with that is that yours is almost 3 times what mine was!  So even though it's lower than you wanted, I think it still will be fine!
