Vaginal pressure

Ok I looked around the threads but didn't see anything like this.

I keep having pressure, only way to describe it is feeling like my uterus is going to fall out!( LOL ) Went to my doctor, she checked me out completely, cervix is tight, ultrasound showed perfect cervical length etc.

My question is NOT is this normal, she said it's probably just the increase in pressure from the baby/womb, but I'm only 15 weeks today! I figured that this would come later when there's more weight!

Anyone else ever get this pressure? Everyone else I asked said they got it MUCH later!

Re: Vaginal pressure

  • I don't know if I have pressure per-say, but I've had cervical shooting pains since the end of first tri.

This seems much worse then pressure, mine doesn't hurt at all it's more annoying and I'll find I'm walking with my legs tightly closed sometimes! LOL hope you feel better and the cervical pains subside!!
  • It's scary! My OB sort of laughed when I brought up incompetent cervix but as a FTM I have no idea. He said usually that's painless and after 20 weeks, but it does bother me that I don't know what it's from---other than pregnancy generally!
  • Hey don't worry I was thinking incompetent cervix when I had just pressure and no pains! Maybe yours is related to nerve pain since it's shooting ? ( nerve pains in the rest of the body are typically shooting or burning) but I'm a FTM also so what the heck do I know?! Lol

  • I have the same thing! I called the on call doctor, TWICE, convinced I was going into labor or something (I'm only 17 weeks). She assured me that it is most likely pressure from the baby, sitting on my bladder and any other parts down there. I have my obstetrical ultrasound in 2 1/2 weeks, so I'm trying to be patient until then.
  • But it's not constant. Usually goes away when I'm sitting down. Doc said it's probably me feeling the baby move in that area since the baby is still small enough to be low.

I had the same type of pressure a few weeks ago and was worried about it too. Googling "pressure in the second trimester" terrified me because it made me so worried about an incompetent cervix or something else that could be going wrong. My doctor said it could actually be from the round ligaments...I had no idea the round ligaments went that far down and didn't think it could lead to pressure instead of pain. She said that pressure is normal and that made me feel so much better. The pressure tends to get worse for me if don't take it easy enough during the day, so I've been making a point to relax a little more and it seems to be less of an issue.

  • I'm happy to know that this is normal and that I wasn't losing my mind!
  • Sooo relieved to read everyone's responses! I'm 15 weeks 3 days and have been experiencing the occasional "twinge" or pressure around my cervix. I chalked it up to body/baby adjustments but as usual everyone's comments put me at ease!
  • @AlwaysLastZZ‌ , I broke my pelvis about 10 years ago. Has your doctor said anything to you about your pelvis not being able to expand the way it's supposed to? I'm trying for a VBAC and he mentioned that my previous broken pelvis may be a problem. Have you had a previous vaginal delivery?

  • @AlwaysLastZZ‌ mine is finally back to normal (no more pain) but the recovery was terrible. If it makes you feel better, I've also heard after healing, your pelvis can be even stronger. I hope everything goes well for you!

@peacelovemama‌ I'm sorry to post hijack!

  • Yes I have this and am 15 wks and 5 days. My appt with the ob is this week so I was going to ask her. I don't recall this with my last pregnancies, but maybe I have forgotten... But mine comes and goes.
  • Yeah! This is my second pregnancy. In my first, i got it when the baby was bigger/heavier - sometime in the 30s (weeks). This time it started around 15 and I'm now 18 weeks. It is so uncomfortable! It feels like the baby is just gonna fall out of my vag if I like sneeze or cough. Anyways- it feels better when I sit or lay down and it gets worse when I've stood or walked for too long. I'm a nanny and on my feet a lot, so I strive to make sure that I'm incorporating a lot of sitting time for me. I can't really think of anything else to help.
  • I'm currently 17w 6d and I've had this pressure since I was about 13w...totally normal! Try wearing a belly belt, to support everything (that's what my OB told me to do) good luck!
  • I had the same thing with my daughter and was told the baby was just really low (incredibly uncomfortable near the end of the pregnancy). However I am not sure if it was because she was so low but I went into labour and delivered less than two hours later.
  • I have it almost all the time. Dr told me it was bc it wasn't my first and I am older than I was with first two.

  • I think I am having what you are describing. It does kind of feel like the baby is going to fall out. I asked my midwife about this pressure and then called twice asking again about pressure and pains. I am always feeling so uncomfortable...they all said it was normal. But, gah its not fun.

  • It's probably the middle of your pubic/pelvic bone moving apart. Google "pubic symphysis." I am pretty sure I have this, and it is not uncommon for it to start at this stage of pregnancy. It is especially noticeable when I get up after sitting for a while.
