Re: Baby is bigger in size than his age

  • Thus happens often. They can hit growth spurts then level out. Especially since it's only one week ahead.

  • Totally normal. It's only a week. With DD, she fluctuated in her measurements. No problems at all!

  • Totally normal. Not all babies are the exact same size at a given time.
  • All babies grow at different rates, I wouldn't worry. Mine was measuring a week ahead at my 12 week scan.

My baby measured a little more than a week ahead at my 12w4d u/s, and no one seemed concerned. They didn't even change my EDD because an earlier u/s had the baby within 2-3 days of the LMP EDD, and apparently earlier u/s's are more reliable. The nurse mentioned growth spurts, etc. I'm not worried about this.

  • In all of my pregnancies except one, my baby has measured around a week ahead and it's never really been an issue.  Doctors tend to be more concerned if your baby is measuring smaller than expected.

This time around I will get a GD test done earlier than the norm, but that is really more due to my age, than the baby measuring larger.

If your doctor isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • A good friend is measuring 4 weeks ahead at 28 weeks. She is used to having large babies and her dr warned her this was the case again but nothing else is wrong. Don't worry.

  • Mine is measuring ahead too...I'm very tall, so I'm chalking it up to genetics.
