Magic Sleepsuit or Zipdeezip

I know we have had a zillion threads on transition sleepwear, but has anybody tried both and have an opinion one way or the other?

Right now she is in the woombie with the pillows sewn in the side so she can't roll over in bed.

Thoughts?

I have been curious about this as well. The magic sleep suit website says in the FAQs that it is designed for back sleeping. Does that mean when they start to roll over it is no longer safe?

ETA which product I had the question about

  • We have both and use both.  If I had to pick one I would choose the magic sleep suit.  DD sleeps well in it; however, it is really thick so she only wears a short sleeved onesie and socks or just a diaper when she wears it.  I don't always feel like undressing her before naps, so that's when we use the Zipadee Zip.  The Zipadee Zip does not give her as much resistance though, but I'm hoping it will be better as she grows.

One thing to think about before you buy is how close your LO is to rolling from back to tummy.  You are not supposed to use the magic sleep suit once they can roll over, but you can continue to use the Zipadee Zip.

Don't expect any miracles from either one.  LO still wakes up once in the MOTN, but it definitely helped her transition from the RNP to the crib.  HTH!

  • I love the magic sleep suit but have not tried the zipadee zip. I dress her in socks and a long or short sleeves onesie. She is very hot blooded and does not get overheated-it's actually pretty breathable.

The magic sleepsuit site says to not use it once they can roll over IN the suit, not just if they are rolling over in general. My daughter can roll over both ways but has not been able to do it in the suit yet. Hope this helps! I think I'll check out the zipadee zip!
  • A lot of moms in my March 2013 group swear by the magic suit. I lucked out in having a good sleeper so haven't had to use these.
