Crib bumpers

so I have been looking at all different bedding sets because we are doing our daughters room in chevron I like a couple different ones but I'm not sure how I feel about crib bumpers I have heard different things some articles say they are bad others say they are safe. Help?

Not safe. Not necessary. If you think you really need one get a breathable bumper. We never had one on our crib for our son.

We've never had one for DD. There was a few weeks where she'd get her legs through the slats but it quickly stopped. This was after she turned one. It was scary a few times getting her out cause she was so stuck. But I don't intend on getting bumpers for this one either.
