getting DD ready for baby?

Hey ladies! It's been a while since I posted on here. I kinda went on lurker mode when I switched from ttgp to this bmb but I have a question now. DD is going to be 1 this next Friday and I'm trying to find ways to get her ready for a new baby in the house.

I talk to her about the baby and have her rub my belly. She likes to rough house with the cat so ive been trying to show her how to pet the cat softly hoping that helps her to recognize to not hit and be gentle but since she is so little I'm really not sure what else I can do.

Any tips? Thanks!!!

My DD is almost 3 and she doesn't understand. I told her I had a baby in my belly and she lifted up my shirt, like, where?! I also talk to her about baby brother. I think the only thing we can do is keep talking to her about it and really involve her once baby is born. This will minimize jealousy and nurture their relationship from the start.

Thanks! I did think about maybe getting one of those plush baby dolls and let her get use to seeing a small baby that way.

She's too young to understand.  My DD1 turned 2 just after DD2 was born and she wasn't even ready to understand then.  Buy her a new baby doll that you'll give to her when you come home from the hospital with the new baby so that she can mimic the things that you do, but I don't think preparing ahead of time is going to be important at this age.
