Hi ladies!
Okay, here's my situation...I'm a former teacher, but I've been a SAHM for the last two years and found out I was expecting in September. I substitute teach here and there, but I wasn't really looking for anything else. A friend of mine is an administrator at a local school and called me to tell me that there was a part-time job available in my content area. Part-time teaching gigs are very rare in my area, and I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity. He (the administrator) STRONGLY advised me not to reveal my pregnancy in the interview, as it could open the school up for a discrimination lawsuit. I felt really guilty and somewhat deceptive about it, but I just didn't mention it. I ended up getting the job about a month ago, and I am really loving it. The problem is that I am starting to show a little sooner than I anticipated, and I feel like I should let my new principal know before she guesses. I am due 5/20, so I won't be able to finish up the school year with my students.
My mom mentioned that maybe I should tell my principal that I didn't realize quite how far along I was when I took the job. My husband says that I absolutely should not lie. I really want to continue this job, and I don't want the school to think I was trying to trick them or anything. Any suggestions for how to break this news or things to say/not say? Thanks!
