No sex till I deliver

my doctor told me yesterday that my placenta is lying low. I am 15 weeks now and hopefully by 20 weeks it will go up. If it doesn't I won't be able to have sex and I may have a c section. Did anyone else's doctor tell them not to have sex? (

Oh man that sucks for us. I don't know how il do it! The pregnancy hormones are making me more horny these days. Sigh! But at the end of the day all that matters is the baby;)

My placenta is also very low lying. I am hoping it moves (because it can move as baby grows) so I can get my VBAC.

But-- no sex restrictions, yet.

I guess foreplay and oral is still an option for you, yes? Maybe not the same, but still fun.

Me too. And for us she actually specified, nothing inserted vaginally and I cannot have an orgasm. I've had very heavy bleeding and although she said we will look and check again at my 20 week ultrasound she told me to prepare for the restrictions to stay. I am incredibly bummed about it.

We haven't had sex since July. IVF puts a damper on everything. Then I started bleeding in the beginning so now were just both scared. Really it's no big deal to us, this isn't the first time we have had to put it on hold because of issues.

My pelvic rest was lifted but we still haven't had sex DH is a paranoid man. It was the same thing last pregnancy.

And because he is a smart ass he said there is already 2 in there I don't want to take the chance of putting 2 more in there.

We did IVF and even after getting green light for sex at 6 weeks we were too scared. Finally gave in at 14 weeks then a few days later bled a lot. So I'm on no sex or orgasim until 34 weeks at this point. We are fine with that because the bleeding scared us so much. But it does suck that pregnancy hormones worked against us on this. May have to take up a new hobby lol.

We were on pelvic rest after IVF with #1 until 12 weeks.  After that we had sex and we were lucky and didn't have any bleeding.  With #2 we were able to conceive naturally and my doctor didn't put me on any restrictions.  I did have a little bleeding the first time after finding out we were prego but I was also having some on and off bleeding a couple weeks before finding out we were prego.  I'm 12 wks and haven't had any bleeding the last few times we have had sex but depending on the position it can feel painful and at times.

I've been on pelvic and bed rest for a month a now. I'm not sure when it will get lifted. I go back Tuesday for a check up.

I was on "no sex or orgasm" restrictions for 12 weeks but am off it now. My placenta moved and things corrected themselves and I will now be able to have a natural birth   Phew!

Add me to the no sex list! I have a low lying placenta as well.

Same here, I did 5 IUI's to get pregnant, so we are not having sex at all. It's just not worth it to me and since I had a bleeding scare a few weeks ago, we definitely not doing it now. Oh well I'm at 13w3d, I can keep holding out.

@Pintobean39‌ I totally understand. We went like 4 months without having sex. First because of IVF and then being too scared first trimester. We'll survive!

I'm on restrictions due to bleeding last week. The doctor said to wait until my appointment in dec for the all clear. A week later and I am still spotting so I am a-ok with playing it safe. I do have to say that I am kind of relieved to read that so many other people have experienced bleeding. I was so panicked when it happened but now I'm learning that it's actually pretty normal, albeit scary.

Ed for spelling. Tenses get me every time.

Oh I will be thinking of you ladies! A friend of mine had some issues with her cervix and was told to rest and no sex and to expect a very early delivery. Many prayers later she is full term, they are allowed to have sex again and they should meet their baby very soon! FX that the rest of you will have the same results! DH and I didn't have sex for about the entire first trimester b/c I felt sick but that is nothing compared to y'all! FX and good vibes to you all! And good sex in your future!

@ScarletBegonia79‌ I understand what you mean about being a bit relieved at how many others have had bleeding. It's so scary and you just don't hear about it. Sorry that so many of us have to go through this.

Just wanted to let you know I was in the same position as you with baby #1 and the placenta moved a lot by the time they did the U/s to check. It can work out for the best!

I had heavy bleeding on halloween night (was 12 weeks then) and was on bed rest + pelvic rest for that weekend. Was told I had what looked like a placental abruption. My ob/gyn allowed me off bed rest just watch my activities...avoid anything that brings bleeding back. I've been back running but haven't done more than 3 miles- usually stop at 2.0 or 2.5. Was more concerned about physical activities or still being able to work at followup appt. so I can't for life of me remember if I was told pelvic restriction was over. Had already decided in ER on not taking chances with uterine contractions.

I'm still spotting some, am glad I'm not alone. Went in worried yesterday, but baby is doing fine. My m.d. mentioned possible steroid shot at 20 weeks if still spotting just in case I go into early labor.

Are you allowed to vibrate yourself? Go to Brookstone and buy a "back massager". They are great for relieving tension anyways lol

I was on restriction from week 7 until now (week 15) because of recurring spotting. My doc said if I went 3 weeks without bleeding I was in the clear. Well, we made it! Im so relieved, because we made good use of the restriction being lifted today, and the bleeding didn't start up again. I also had been having wet dreams (embarrassing, I know) and the orgasms my dreams brought on led to the worst cramps. Luckily, the cramping has subsided as well.

I was on pelvic rest for awhile. It's very unpleasant. My recommendation is to try to avoid anything that makes you want sex more. My sil was on pelvic rest for a low lying placenta and by her next appointment it had risen. So good luck!
