I used the Medela Pump In Style backpack. AWESOME. It doesn't hurt, has a timer, has dual pumping, comes with a fridge bag and store bottles. I highly recommend!
I had a Medela PISA as well, although mine doesn't have a timer. That sounds nice. The PISA doesn't compare to a hospital pump, but for one you can buy and carry around, it works pretty darn well.

May 2015 signature challenge for January: "You had ONE job!"
I had the Ameda Purely Yours and I liked it-- as much as you can like a breast pump There is something about the tubes that made me pick the brand over the Medela, but I can't remember what. I am off to google and shall report back.
I have the Ameda Purely Yours which is similar to the Medela PIS. I wouldn't say I loved it, but it worked just fine for me. I like that it's a closed system. It was compatible with the hospital grade pump we have at the hospital I work at which was convenient for me and saved me some money.
Lurker from June:) I loved the medela pump in style. The customer service is awesome too. I had a battery issue and they sent me a new battery free of charge within 24 hours.
I used the Medela PISA and it worked fine; however, with the new law about breast pumps being covered by insurance, a lot of insurance plans cover a Hygea pump which is far superior! Hygea is a closed system and is medical grade. Friends of mine who have used both say that they get almost twice the output with a Hygea than they did with a PISA. Just something to think about.
I used an Ameda Purely Yours. I chose it over the Medela because it has a closed circuit (which when I was picking it 2 years ago I knew what that meant but right now I don't remember). I liked it.
I started out with a borrowed Medea pump in style, but she had a surprise pregnancy and needed it back. I did no like it. I didn't respond well to it and I didn't like the hard plastic on my boobs.
By the time I needed to buy my own my daughter had already chose the bottle she like: tommee tippee. So I just went ahead with the tommee tippee pump double electric. It was brand new and had little reviews, but I took the plunge. It was amazing. I responded much better to it aka got more milk to pump out. And it had silicone cups for your boobs. Much more comfy.
@chicagomomab and I chose it for the same reason. It's the closed circuit system vs the open. My office is filthy and I didn't want to take the chance of anything getting in the milk. Also, I heard that sometimes mold can grow in the tubing if they aren't cleaned properly. That's why I went with the Ameda. I used the storage bottles that came with it, but I also found that the Dr Brown's bottles I used were able to connect directly to the pump as well. I am not sure if other brands to that, I already had the Dr Browns.

I have a Medela Freestyle which I used for 7 months and will again for this baby when I return to work. I really like it- the only hard part has been getting replacement parts which are not as readily available as the PISA. I do love that it is a little less cumbersome though! I would buy it again if I had to.
FYI FTMs all pumps (I'm pretty sure) make that annoying sound that sounds like a cow being milked)

Praying for our May15 baby!January 2014- Welcome Sweet Kimber!
I have the Ameda Purely Yours. It was the free one with my insurance. I used it 1x/day and it worked great. I don't have anything to compare it to though. I'd try the pump your insurance covers first. You can always buy one if you don't like it.
Medela PISA. It was fine. I hate pumping though, I get very little out when I pump but I was able to feed DD just fine straight from the tap. I'll have to pump again when I go back to work after maternity leave and i'll probably use the same one.
With my daughter I had a Pump in Style Advanced and I loved it. Unfortunately, I sold it after she was done breastfeeding, so I'm going to have to buy another. I checked with my insurance and they only cover a manual pump. Definitely worth spending the money on, in my opinion. I could pump about 8-10 oz in 10 minutes and it never hurt.

Medela Freestyle. Used it for both babies so far. Absolutely loved it. It was super portable- I could throw it in any bag/purse. I could clip it on my waist and walk around while pumping. Good battery life.

All of this. I ep'ed on that one for 14 months and as far as pumps go it's awesome (I still wanted it to DIAF, but that was because I was sick of it by the end).
I also had the Ameda purely yours for a few weeks from the hospital and that one wasn't bad either.

It hurts, it's awful, but it worked well. Fingers crossed that this kid will latch, because I don't think I could EP again.

I liked that the suction and speed had separate dials - so you could control it really well.
For those of you who didn't like the shields with your pump, look into pumpin pals. They are pretty awesome.
