Progesterone pills

I've been taking a 100mg capsule daily since I was 8 weeks (I'm almost 16 weeks) and all of my check-ups have been great since then. I forgot to ask my doctor last time I was there  so I was curious how long most people take these?

Re: Progesterone pills

  • @robotpcr @IFinTN yeah...I was thinking they might have forgotten to tell me to stop taking them...frustrating!

  • @robotpcr I just shot the nurses a note, hopefully I will hear back soon. Thanks for your help! :)

  • I was doing shots of progesterone in oil and stopped at 15 weeks.  Too much progesterone really can't hurt things but it does sound as though they just forgot to tell you to stop.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • @itsmevkb Okay, good to know it can't hurt things, thank you. My doctor's office has a tendency to let things fall through the cracks but I can't believe my doctor didn't review this at my last appointment since she prescribed them. Thank goodness for groups like this to help us become more educated!

  • I stopped taking them twice a day at the beginning of the second trimester. Now I'm weening off. Last week I took one every other day and this week I am taking one every two days. Best to ask the DR though! :)

  • I'm taking them and will stop this Friday at 14 weeks.
  • I take the pills 3 times a day and I have an appt Friday which I'll be right over 12 weeks and my doctor said assuming everything looks fine I should be done with them then.  That is right about the same time I was done with them with my son as well.  Not hard and if they help then great, but just gets annoying popping so many pills a day.  Worth it in the long run though.
