Ultrasound pic

At my first appt at 8/12 weeks we had a doppler done but couldn't hear the heart beat so in order to confirm that everything was okay, we had an ultrasound done to hear the heart beat and were lucky enough to see the baby.  However, there's only 1 ultrasound machine in the office and it was out of paper. 

I go in for my 2nd appt this Friday (I'll be 12 weeks).  If they only do a doppler to check for the heart beat, do you think it would be okay to ask if they could just do a quick ultrasound since we weren't able to have a pic the last time?  It's not our fault that they were out of paper.  If my hubby and I were thinking a little clearer/quicker, we could have taken a picture of the screen with our cell phones, but there was so much relief and excitement that we never thought about that until after.  If it seems rude or like too much to ask I don't want to inconvenience anyone, but we'll be seeing family from out of state over Thanksgiving and it would be really great to take a pic to show them.  Not sure what all happened at some of your 2nd appts so I'm not really sure what to ask/expect.

I would ask. I would have been disappointed not having a picture.

I'm sure you could ask but I would call ahead of time since they only have 1 machine in the office it may be in use during you scheduled appointment time. Also they may charge you (Dr's like to bill for anything and everything). You can also search google for boutique ultrasound offices in your area. I know the one around me charges $99 for 20 min and you get some pictures to take home.

I got another ultrasound my 2nd appt, but I would definitely ask. Sorry you got screwed out of a pic the first time, but congrats on a healthy US!

I'd just call ahead of time to let them know you want the u/s so the room and machine are available to you.

Go ahead and ask. I'd probably ask as soon as I got to the office then they can get the appropriate room set up for you.

Thanks guys!  A co-worker (one I don't particularly care for) said that I should just wait until I'm far enough along to find out the gender.  That's over a month away and like I said in my original post, it would be so nice to be able to share the pic with family over the holidays.  We only see them once a year so it would be really awesome to show them.
