Gel manicures?

Has anyone talked to their doctor about gel manicures? I forgot to ask at my last appointment. I have weddings coming up the next two weekends and would love to get gel rather than regular polish that will chip in between. I'm sure the gel polish itself is not a problem as long as the salon is well ventilated. It's the soaking in acetone to get them off that worries me. Thoughts?

I had one recently. I took them off myself. Just used a half a cotton ball soaked and that way it only touched my nail not skin. Then wrapped my finger tips in foil and let it soak in.

Yes, I waited until second tri to take them off. When I had the done I was only client and sat by an open door.

I got mine done 2 weeks ago. Probably going to stretch them out another week so Ill be a little over 13 weeks when they need to come off

I am getting gel polish done tomorrow. I haven't had my nails done since I started trying to get pregnant. I'm 11w5d and it's time. My nails look terrible!

I get it every 3 weeks like clockwork. By then they pretty much peel off on their own. Whatever is left the salon files down and sprays a bit of acetone on them and wraps in cotton and tinfoil. No soaking.

I have my nails done every four weeks and my Ob has no problem as long as it is well ventilated. Even having them taken off.

I'm a huge gel mani fan and pre-pregnancy got them every 3 weeks. I still have had a few during pregnancy (I'm 15 weeks), and my dr said they're fine. However I keep reading articles that there are no studies yet and to stay away, so I am hesitant on continuing.

I got gel nails for my wedding and I picked them off myself...kinda gross.  But after awhile they started peeling anyway and I couldn't just sit there and not mess with them.

Moral of the story- I got mine off without soaking in anything.
