Baby Names

Baby Name

So lately I've been thinking of name for my baby to be. I got my girls name down but not a boy name yet. Of course I have tons of time before my baby is here. For a girls name I will do Noelani Halia. Quick history on how I got this name: In May of this year I had a baby girl Kailani Vanessa. She passed away from SIDS on June 8th, 2014. Noelani means mist of Heaven, she'd be my little mist of Heaven after loosing Kai. Halia means in remembrance of a loved one. The name couldn't fit more perfectly. Plus Noelani is somewhat close to Kailani and Halia would be for her sissy. I am always thinking of adding another middle name in addition to Halia. It would be Noelani Halia-Kinna. Kinna means China. I always called Kailani my China Doll. I don't think Kinna necessarily needs to be added right? I think Noelani Halia is good enough. As for a boy name I have no idea so hopefully my baby turns out to be a girl! Do you ladies think Noelani Halia is an alright name if my baby is a girl. I already have received negative feedback for the name. People say it's an ugly name but it's not to me and has a beautiful meaning to me.

Re: Baby Name

  • I know a Noelani (nn Noe). She's a beautiful person, and I've always loved her name. She's Hawaiian. I'm assuming you are too? I think your girl choice is perfect. No advice on boy names!
No I'm actually not Hawaiian. Anything about Hawaiians name or such things seem so flowing and relaxing. Maybe that's why I like the free flowing names. Also how did you add the baby ticker, I can't seem to add mine.
  • I'm so so sorry for your loss.

I think Noelani Hallia is very pretty and meaningful to you.

  • I think the name is very pretty, and the meaning behind both names are beautiful.

  • I am so sorry for your loss.

I agree with Joy-- all the names you have in mind are beautiful, but I would pick just one.  I wish you all of the luck.

  • I have to agree with you ladies now. I do think adding another name would be unnecessary. I've never had to think of adding a name for my daughter because I never would of imagined. But you ladies opened my eyes and it is a good idea to leave Kinna out. Thank you for saying it nicely and not rudely.
  • I think it is kind of weird to give your child such a Hawaiian name if you are not Hawaiian and don't live in Hawaii, but I like the meaning behind it, so I will support it.
I'm not Hawaiian but my children are half Hawaiian.
  • First off, I am so sorry for your loss. Noelani is personally not my style but is a perfectly fine name with beautiful meaning. I'd definitely use it!
