July 2015 Moms

Multiple sclerosis

Any July mommas have MS? I'm due about July 7. I have MS and don't know how I'm going to cope if I relapse before I hit the second trimester. I miscarried last December at 5w4d. I'm at 5w1d right now. Hoping I can hang onto this one

Re: Multiple sclerosis

  • Yes I've heard that remission happens for sure when you hit second trimester but that you're still at risk in the first. Trying to stay hopeful that I don't relapse and that baby sticks :)
  • So far there hadn't been an increase in my MS symptoms. Yahoo! Maybe I will be lucky.

Now that we are a little further into the month and have more members here, any other expecting mamas with multiple sclerosis?

  • Good luck @alley111‌. My mother has MS an it bogs her down a lot but she wasn't diagnosed until her late 40s. I pray that you have a healthy happy pregnancy and your symptoms go into remission with NO relapses. May you stay warm this Winter and cool when it warms up! Fx.

Thank you so much @shelbutler‌. I appreciate the thoughts! I thought my fatigue was bad before from my ms alone. Now that it is mixed with pregnancy it is unreal! Other than that, I feel pretty good!
  • Fx for you, hope you don't relapse. My mom has MS but she also was not diagnosed until 30 or 40s, can't remember.

  • My sister found out during her first pregnancy that she has MS he is now (almost) 5 she also has a 3 year old too. Both very very healthy (crazy lol) boys. The first trimester was very hard for her but try not to stress out to much.
  • Sending good thoughts your way!

@darlishaj‌ do you mind me asking what they have you on? I'm not on any meds at all. They said there are very few safe for pregnancy in Canada (Copaxone being one of them but I do worse on it so I was taken off). I will likely have to start again fairly soon after delivery.
  • I was previously on Tysabri then I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks after my last infusion,my neurologist advised me to stop Tysabri and to start Copaxone because of the aggressiveness of my MS, I am to continue Tysabri right after delivery. I would rather be drug free especially during my pregnancy, but the doc, doesn't think that's a good idea,I'm still not too convinced im doing the right thing.
  • @darlishaj‌ , I think you are ok with Copaxone. Everything I've read and heard is that it is safe. Wishing you all the best!

@moonrisemama‌ that's too bad they can't figure it out. Have you had an MRI? I can't wait for second trimester when I go into remission!

Had my ultrasound this morning at 12w2d. It was amazing and made things so much more real. We even saw the little bean jump! It was so cool!
