Help! Christmas Photo Attire

I need all of you stylish fashionistas to help me out with what to wear for an upcoming photo session! I'm not sure if it's going to be full body or not, so suggestions for both full body shots or upper shots are welcome. It's going to be pretty professional, but I don't think it'll be super posed or stereotypical of what you usually see.

I know I don't want to wear a dress, and I'll post a pic below of what I want Edolie to wear. I'm wanting to wear white, and I don't know if my husband should also wear white, or what other colors would be okay for him to wear?

Also, a picture below of me in a shirt I bought a few weeks ago. I was thinking about wearing that and maybe trying to find a red lace cami to go underneath so I'll be coordinated with Edolie? Don't know if it's too casual. But when I brought it up to my MIL when she asked what I'll be wearing, she was pretty silent. That usually means she doesn't like something, so I don't know if it's not a good idea or what. But it's not like she's the most stylish person either, so.

Anyway, suggestions for me and my husband are appreciated! Thanks!

Oh! And here's a picture of the blouse I didn't buy because it was too "fancy" for where I was going, but maybe this would be more appropriate for the photo session?

I know you said you don't want to wear a dress but with how "fancy" Edolie's dress is, you are going to need to wear either black pants or a black skirt with the 2nd top. I would add a red cardigan. For DH, maybe a red button down and dress pants....

Is your photo session in a studio or outside?

Also, where did you get that dress, trying to find a Christmas dress for Savannah.

@LizChad09 Red cardigan - good idea! I'm going to email the photographer's assistant today to see if our lower halves will be in the pictures. It's going to be in a studio. I haven't gotten the dress yet, but it's from macys.com! I'm wanting to go to the actual store next week though to see what they have there.

I second @AprilMay9‌ . A bold red necklace would look great with the first top. I wouldn't get a red cami for underneath.
For your husband a black and white checkered or plaid shirt would look nice with Edolie's dress.
I bet you guys will look great!

@AprilMay9‌ So you think it'll be dressy enough? I guess accessories can make it dressier. I also didn't buy that oatmeal tank, but I can. I liked it, just had something else already to go underneath it. I'm open to getting some else to go underneath too. Brent already has black flat front khakis, so yay! I was thinking a sweater for him too, and he'd probably like that better than a button up.

I would also ask the photographer what kind of backgrounds he/she is thinking about. If you wear a red cardigan against a red background, you might end up just blending in.

lol I'm glad someone did! I still don't know what a good alternative would be. Like I said earlier, I could still buy that oatmeal tank that's in the picture.

In my world I would rather buy a red cami then a red statement necklace just because I know I would wear it more. I like the first shirt better then the 2nd and I totally agree with the black and white check shirt because it's so clean cut.

Same goes for me. I'm not a jewelry person at all, so I'd strictly be buying it just for the pictures, which I wouldn't be opposed to doing if it would look the best in the pictures.

I agree! She did Edolie's newborn photos, and she did a great job. I love her work.

@edoliesMom No red cardi! I like it just how it is. Keep it neutral just how you have in the picture add heels and if you want a statement necklace I would choose a sleek black one to accent baby E.

I also vote long-sleeved shirt, keep it neutral and wear a statement necklace. Sounds like a fun photo shoot, I hope you'll post a pic when all is said and done!

Here's some ideas assuming from the thread that you want a matching color scheme:

Go for something more edgy and unexpected.  Keep white shirt, nix the red cardigan for a motorcycle jacket, steal DH's checks for your pants in a graphic black and white houndstooth print, and add an interesting necklace.   

A black blazer would dress up your white top and give you a slimming effect.  (You look great in your pic, not that you need it) and pair with red denim. 

Make it festive (and stylish) with a red tartan scarve.

Also, I don't care if it's cheesy or cliche.. . a red holiday sweater is cute when the proportions are right. Paired with buffalo check, driving gloves, and riding boots it looks classic AND classy.

I own the boots in that last shot- I'm stylish! However, she's crazy to wear them in the snow without the fleece liner socks.

I think it's prob fine depending how dark it is. Look at it next to the black in dds dress. Sometimes navy is navy and other times it looks more like off black.

I ended up finding another one in black since the navy wasn't in his size. The one I got doesn't look as clean-cut because there's kind of like a little emblem or pattern in the checks, but you can't tell that much from far away.
