Rec your toy/playroom/kids room organization stuff

How are you organizing toys?  Our playroom is a mess since we mainly use a bunch of foldable boxes from target, and the kids' rooms are basically empty of toys.  With another birthday coming up before Christmas, I'm thinking I need to hit the sales for furniture or storage or some kinda organization system(s).  Any advice on what works?  This kind of thing makes me wish I lived closer to an ikea...

  • I have a long wooden shelf that I think is designed to go behind a couch judging by it's height. It is perfect for the kids toys in the playroom. We also have an activity table with drawers on wheels under it. I try to cycle out toys to have the playroom mostly open access for the toys and the out of cycle stuff is in the locked closet.
I keep the art stuff in my breakfast room hutch in nice glass containers because I can't have it out for the kids to use whenever (Leo cannot be trusted with markers).
Our downstairs family room has built-ins and I use the collapsible Target bins in the cabinets so it is out of sight.
Their rooms do not have toys really. At the end of James' bed is 3 baskets, 2 with books and 1 with mainly stuffed animals and a few cars.

  • Three Sprouts has the cutest bins.  We have three different ones for around our house and I bought one for my mom's house too.  I found them on Target's website for a lot cheaper than their website.
