My friends recommend adding the Aden + Anais swaddle blankets 47"x47" into my registry, but I realized there's different "models" so I'd like STM/BTDT to chime in. Thanks~!

Re: Aden + Anais Swaddle

  • Yea my friends that use the classic cotton muslin swear by them, but the mamas who got the 3 pack (& based on the peacock feather design) it has to be bamboo. So I'm confused. They "feel" pretty similar to me
& then I got the crunchy friends who only go organic Haha

@fabledmabel‌ are you also getting the Aden anais dream blanket?

  • Yea, I was considering just sewing in some tufting into good quality muslin cuz it just seems a bit excessive. And i might want it bigger just to use as a play mat

Well not me, but asking my MIL (she's a tailor)

  • I had a hard time swaddling with muslin but I love the muslin blankets in general. They are light for a summer baby. I would suggest getting some swaddlemes as well.
  • @Laynabella‌ I noticed your most recent baby is now 2, any great multi use blanket/ swaddle product you'd recommend? Thanks in advance

  • I didn't use a&a blankets to swaddle, but I used them all the time for other purposes. DD has one in her crib now, but just as something to snuggle with.

  • My 3 year old still loves his muslin set. Both my kids so far have broken out of all swaddles, but their a&a blankets are a huge comfort thing for them, so I'm definitely getting them for the new guy.

These look great but really pricey! What is better about these than other blankets? Also, are they warmer? I'm concerned with having a summer baby this time around since DD was born at the end of september she was pretty much bundled until she could walk.
  • I'm going Special Snowflake because:

We have the classic, the bamboo and the organic. We love all of them. I'd say organic is only worth it if you feel strongly about it, otherwise it's basically the same as the classic.  Bamboo feels silkier, which is nice, but it seemed hotter for my kiddo as well.  We don't have the 2-layer (cozy) or 4-layer (dream) just because my kid runs hot even in winter (caveat: "winter" is like 70* for us) but if our second isn't so hot blooded, I will in a second.

And I want a dream blanket for me =)

  • I guess our's are just the plain cotton ones that come in a 4-pack from Target. We didn't really swaddle with them a whole lot, but they were awesome nursing covers/burp cloths/changing pads/sun shades/nap blankets/loveys to drag around, etc. etc. Both of my kids still use their's daily and they really are the most versatile blankets. We didn't rely on them for warmth too much, if it is cold the baby is always in warm pajamas and/or has a fleece blanket as well.

I had one pack of the 47" bamboo ones and one pack of the slightly smaller classic cotton for my son. The bamboo ones were sooo much softer. I would splurge on those, plus the patterns are much better (or at least they were three years ago).

  • I'm a fan of the bamboo. They are so much softer and easier to use for swaddling, but I'll second pps and say they are warmer, so keep that in mind in the summer. However, for nighttime serious swaddling, we used the Swaddlemes.

  • We have probably 15 of the normal muslin, one cozy blanket, and an adult daydream. I wanted some bamboo, but plenty of friends have warned me they are soft, but can lead to overheating and they wear out quicker than the regular muslin. I'm planning to buy the organic wise guys set for these babies.
  • Gosh we have lots.. 30 maybe.. Or more! My youngest spit up a lot. The bamboo is super soft but it's slippery to swaddle. I don't think the swaddle holds as well as with the cotton. I'm not picky between organic or just regular cotton. Both are done. Dream blankets are amazing! I'd love a daydream for me! The Aden by A&A aren't bad either. They are 44x 44 they aren't quite as soft but do soften up.
  • Seriously, A'15 mamas are the best. Thanks so much for the honest input. So so helpful

  • We have tons of the cotton muslin ones that I used frequently with DS2 - He's 18 months and still loves them. He sleeps with at least 3 in his crib every night. They were great for the time of year he was born since it was getting hotter and the blankets are very lightweight. I used them for nursing covers in replace of an actual nursing cover. We also have an A+A stroller blanket that's a little heavier and a little bigger - we love that one as well.

Basically, A+As are amazing and you can never have too many of them.
Good to know they're multi functional, and thanks for pointing me out to the stroller blanket

  • I loved A+A swaddles for DS. Planning on getting more for the twins since I basically destroyed the ones I had before by using them constantly.

  • I'm surprised so many people voted for the cotton muslin ones.  The bamboo ones are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much softer.  I wish they came in my size.

  • I love our A&A blankets and burp clothes and sleep sacks... I would say either muslin or classic unless you feel strongly about organic. They can be used for so much. We used them for a cover up while breast feeding, blanket, swaddle, spit cloth. They are definielty my go to for baby showers. Like PP's said... pick by design. They are all great.

I believe they have a bamboo daydream blanket, so it'll be four layers & adult sized

  • The bamboo are softer but they are slippery for swaddling. They don't hold a tight swaddle like the cotton ones. I cuddle up with my little guy"s dream. It's so soft!
