Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Intro recurrent miscarriages for me

Hi ladies I am sorry for your losses. I'm 32 and just had my 3rd miscarriage in less than a year. First one was a mmc identical twin pregnancy at 12 weeks where the pregnancy had stopped at 9 weeks. 2nd one was a natural miscarriage at 6 weeks. And now another mmc at 10 weeks where the pregnancy stopped at 7 weeks. I'm seeing an RE and going through a bunch of testing. Has anybody gotten an answer for why they are having recurrent miscarriages?

Re: Intro recurrent miscarriages for me

  • Unfortunately it's one of those things that varies, woman to woman.  There's a few more common explanations that others, and sometimes there's no explanations at all.  Hopefully your RE can figure out a plan for you.
I'm very sorry for your losses.  <3

  • I'm so sorry for your losses.  After 3 miscarriages your doctor or RE should start testing for causes of recurrent pregnancy loss.  It could be something anatomical (problem with uterus or tubes), genetic, a blood clotting problem or unfortunately sometimes unknown.  I hope you get answers and a plan.  I'm sorry you're here, but welcome.

  • I've had recurrent miscarriages, the last being just over 6 weeks ago. My RE found I have a blood clotting problem plus I also have diminished ovarian reserve which makes chromosomal problems more likely. It's good that you will be able to get some answers and hopefully all you need is a little tweak from the RE

  • I'm sorry for your losses and I wish there was an easy answer as to why MC's happen. I just had my 3rd one last week and I'm hoping to get an appointment soon with an RE.

I hope the testing you're doing gives you the answers you're looking for.
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • I don't have anything to add that OP haven't already said, but I'm sorry for your losses. I hope you get answers fast. ((Hugs))

  • I am no help... But I'm so sorry for your losses. :(
  • I'm so sorry for your loss :( I don't have personal experience with recurrent miscarriage, but my friend had 2 miscarriages and they finally figured out that she had a problem producing progesterone. She had to take a supplement in order to sustain her pregnancies. She also had to really push for testing.
  • Sorry for your losses. I'm 31 and my hubby is 40. I've had two miscarriages and have been diagnosed with a mild hereditary blood clotting disorder (double heterozygous MTFHR). I now take a baby aspirin every day and am taking a special kind of prenatal with easier to digest folate. According to my acupuncturist, it's unclear whether that caused the miscarriages.

Things that I was tested for include egg quality, blood clotting disorders, and progesterone levels. We were also able to have out baby tested after my D&C, which revealed no chromosomal abnormalities. My doctor also did a basic ultrasound to confirm that everything looked ok in there, and we're doing a more intensive ultrasound to check the uterus and tubes in a couple weeks.

So, to answer your original question, I sort of got an answer but am largely undiagnosed. It's tough to know whether to wish something is clearly wrong (so that it can be addressed) or to wish for nothing to be wrong. I think that it's probably best to hope that to the extent there are any issues, they are easily fixed.
  • I am so sorry for your losses. I know how hard it is to not have control over what is happening to your body. It is so frustrating not to not have answers. I hope your RE or FS can get you some answers soon! I have also had three miscarriages myself, one (mmc) at 12 weeks, one (BO) at 10 and one very early natural mc at 5 weeks. I am seeing a specialist now and he has been testing LOTS of things -my thyroid, my progesterone levels, he tested for antibody issues, chromosonal issues, he tested to see if I had a blood clotting issue (if so you can take baby aspirin to thin your blood). He tested my husband's sperm. So far everything has come back clear. I am having a sono when my next cycle starts - it's when they shoot dye into your tubes and make sure there are no blockages. I'm also having a 3d ultrasound to look at the shape of my uterus. I am seeing an osteopath (my body alignment is off) and getting acupuncture to help the lining of my uterus and egg health. I am taking coenzyme q10 for egg health and 5mg of folic acid.. I really hope your specialist can give you some answers. Big hugs.
