Notifying HR/supervisor of pregnancy

I work in home healthcare, and I notified my supervisor as soon as I found out I was pregnant. She is the only one I see and talk to on a weekly basis and we have a good bond. I notified the HR department today via email and cc'd my immediate supervisor, clinical director, and other supervisors in the area. The clinical director emailed me back today and told me it was such an unexpected surprise when I said I was pregnant. Do you think that it was like a slap in the face to everybody saying "Hey I'm pregnant!" It's just difficult when I have so many people above me to tell in person or write personal emails. I feel uneasy and guilty about the situation now like I should apologize or something. I have a huge company meeting tomorrow where I will see everyone. Does anyone have any advice of how I should handle the situation? Should I approach people and tell them in person too? What would you do? Thanks.

I'm unmarried and work with kids so it's a lot of pressure there already. I practically don't see anyone else but her! I hate spilling the beans to people I don't know that well because I'm just so shy to begin with! Thanks for your advice!

My supervisor (including myself) reports to clinical director, but I think she wanted to let me tell everyone when I was ready.

Oh no I cc'd everyone (that was my doing) and it was probably a dumb move but I didn't want HR to contact clinical supervisor and her not know either. I just thought it would be easier that way?

HR people take FOREVER to respond to anything because it's a huge company...so clinical director responded first and wondered why I didn't tell her before HR.

I don't think you did anything wrong at all. In my opinion, the only reason you even have any obligation to tell anyone at work is so they know you'll be on maternity leave, and you did that. It's really your business. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you! My other area supervisor just emailed me back too and congratulated me. I told her it was difficult to tell everyone at once and she said she is happy for me too. I think everything will be okay now. :-) thanks for your help. I feel so relieved now .

I feel that saying you thought your supervisor would have told her is like throwing her under the bus so to speak. Like she didn't do something she was supposed to do.
