Is it mucous plug?

Hey guys, I havnt posted on here before, so forgive me if someone has already asked the question-
I'm 36 weeks today, I've just been to the loo and noticed light pink, slightly bloodstained discharge. Could this be my mucous plug even though I was
told 3 days ago baby's head has not fully engaged yet?
It's 1am and I am lying here with minor lower abdominal cramping (BH I guess? I havnt had them really till now)
just after some middle of the night advice?

Oh.. no, I was half asleep and stupidly just looked and flushed it.. Wishing I took one now... Tummy is gurgling and baby seems to be moving around a lot now too

No, no, this is good. Pictures are never necessary. If it is your plug, it's nothing to worry about. But no pictures, K?

I'm not keen on pics either. You won't see any from me on here. Just wish I took one for dr or midwife in case I need if later that's all

Thanks for coming to the rescue @minibean16‌ --- guess I didn't use my sarcasm font in my post above.

Pix of your mucus plug are never needed. EVER. Especially on the internet. Now if you wanna take it to show your doctor .. Rock on. But please don't post it here.

With that said .. It could be something or it could be nothing.. You're still early so only time will tell.

Oh how disappointing- I just jumped on here, posted for the 1st time on one of these message boards ever, just after some friendly advice given that it's 1.30am where I am and I feel like you guys are just mocking me

To be perfectly honest, your responses have been sickly sweet compared to the answers you might have received a week ago.

So I should consider myself lucky? I don't see what was so terrible that I wrote on here that warrants any sort of bitchy comment to be honest.. I didn't post any pics, nor did I plan to, so not sure what the issue is.

Seriously? We were being nice. We're not doctors and we really aren't qualified to be given you advice. It's also a bit odd to jump onto an Internet forum when you have a medical question instead of calling your doctor.

This! Maybe it's just me .. And I'm a FTM too but if I had an sort of "new/strange" discharge I wouldn't google it at 1:30am, then find a random Internet forum I've never interacted with before.. And ask a bunch of strangers that question expecting medical advice. @AnnieRoo13‌ is right - a question like this would have been received so differently a week ago. The answers you've gotten have been great. Not sure what you were expecting.

I'm having a quick nose on here from D14 bc I heard N14 was having a lot of their babies. OP-these responses are very sweet. Everyone has given you their opinion and thanked you for not posting a pic (people do this-it's gross and unnecessary). N14ers are being super nice to you.

I don't think her question was inappropriate at all. I'd ask something similar. Do I really want to call my doctor in the middle of the night for something I've never experienced before but none the less is perfectly normal? No. I don't. How do i find out if something is normal or not? google. This board. There are lots of women on here who have prior experience with pregnancy and lots who have zero. I see nothing wrong with asking for advice.

This thread didn't take a nosedive until people started implying that people are trying not to be mean or say what they really want to. What reason would you have to be mean from this question? I just don't get it. I honestly feel like mucous plug pics are one of those things that people talk about but nobody actually posts.

Think of it this way: would you walk up to a group of pregnant women sitting at a park and open with "Hey, I think I'm losing my mucous plug. Talk to me about it?"

....and if you would seriously do so, would you expect people not have "ewww, gross" and "please don't show us" responses? 

She effectively barged in on a circle of friends that have been hanging out together for months and demanded we give her answers on something easily searchable and more suited to be asked of her doctor/midwife.  The responses she got were exceedingly tame for a BMB. Yeah, I get she doesn't know that culture. That's on her for not taking the time to read through the forum before posting. It's not our responsibility to educate her, she can obviously read. We're not hostages to her question-of-the-moment. I get the "we're here for support" and I counter with "you get what you put in". She just showed up randomly, asked her random question, and then got annoyed when we didn't act like her personal Ask-A-Nurse hotline. That's not what a BMB is for.

Why not call the on-call nurse? That's exactly what I would do.

Honestly, don't think this thread was worthy of a WK saving. Everyone was polite and informative for being non-doctor random women on an Internet forum.

I think everyone needs to lighten up. Just a tad. Her question got answered. Could we have saved the private joking for the Randoms thread? Probably. But, it is nothing compared to what this would have looked like a week ago.
OP, this forum is full of amazing women. You ARE welcome here. We were just poking fun at an inside joke. If you take a look around at our threads you will understand what I mean.

I'm not being a white knight. I'm stating my opinion just like all of you. Just because I disagree with you and agree with her shouldn't make anything flame worthy. I feel like people claim "white knight" the second someone agrees with an OP on any slightly questionable topic.

This is a community yes. But it is totally different than going up to a group of women on a park bench. Would I bring up a mucous plug to a random group of women in person? No. I'd probably only ask my closest friends about it. However, this is a pregnancy and birthing board. It is a totally appropriate topic for that forum. I don't think I'd feel uncomfortable bringing it up at a birth class but if those same women were sitting on a park bench hell no. It's all about context.

Just a fun fact to throw out there: I've actually had someone come up to me IRL and announce, "I just lost my mucus plug!!" Granted, we were going to a labor and delivery class but she was way excited and telling everyone. So, it happens IRL, too.

OP, if you've had a recent VE it isn't uncommon to lose all or parts of your mucous plug, or even notice bloody show. And baby being at 0 station (or not) has little to do with when or if you'll lose your plug. Also, cramping is normal following a VE. I lost my plug and had bloody show at 35 weeks with my first. I noticed it shortly after a VE, but I didn't have her until three weeks later via induction.

And I began losing my plug in pieces starting at 36 weeks with my second. I don't recall noticing anything with my third, and I began losing it with my fourth around 37 weeks, once I really began to dilate and efface. But, again, it says little about labor being imminent.

Here's some advice, go post this question on October 14, they are all real nice and would love to answer this for you.

If you do so you will consider yourself quite lucky with the response you got here.

Ditto for D14. OP would get torn to shreds in five seconds. For all the hardships N14 has endured, they sure are suffering this fool gracefully.
