I know. I like Pierce better too but it needs to be 2 syllables and it's the only name we have agreed on....I'm full term, having the baby any minute. Lol

  • I would prefer Pierce but of your options definitely Pearson.

    Good luck :-)

  • Pierson isn't a made up name! Hahaha I have just seen it spelled those different ways and wanted to get opinions on what looks best.
has to be 2 syllables because our last name is 1 syllable and I think it flows better.
Pierson means rock or strong force. Definitely not a made up name

  • Pearson.

I love one syllable first and last names!

I agree with pierce and Preston as better options.
  • You're mistaken. The name is ultimately of Greek origin, from "petros", rock, stone, and was very popular among Christians in Europe during the Middle Ages, mainly because it was the name bestowed by Christ (as a byname) on the apostle Simon bar Jonah; the name was chosen by Christ for its symbolic significance: "Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church."

  • Pierce for sure...

  • I also prefer Pierce but if you want the longer name then I like Pierson spelling
  • I'm really not trying to debate what the name means. It's a surname we are using as a first name. It could mean coffee table for all I care. We like it just are trying to find the best spelling. Geeze!

  • And this is the source we used when going through names. Again, I don't care...not my point in starting this thread...

  • The second one. I'm with @BananaLettuce‌ in that Pearson reminds me of fruit.

  • I would pronounce Pearson as pears son. Like the fruit. I would go with Piers/Pierce.

Yes this. Pearson is definitely pear-son like the fruit to me.

  • I think you may get pronunciation issues with this name; I pronounce each spelling slightly different to majorly different.
Have you thought of double naming Pierce? Like John Pierce and just call him Pierce.
If you're trying to be different with this Pierce-son name there is really no need because Pierce while it is easily regnoziable it is pretty uncommon.
Pearson is ridiculous and I would avoid.

  • I prefer Pearson
  • Pearson is also an academic publishing company. Pierson is a better option if you really need two syllables.

  • My DS is Pierce. FWIW his mn is one syllable (Dean). I was worried about flow, but ultimately chose it for family significance. I think 2 one syllable names can sound very strong. It is hard to say if it is really bad without knowing the name bc all of the names I keep thinking of sound great with Pierce. If forced to choose, I would pick Pierson and would use the nn Pierce.

  • I prefer Pierson, especially since Piers is the original root of the name. Pearson makes me think it could be pronounced "Pair-son"
  • Pierson. I like it!
  • My DH has a distant relative named Pierson and I always thought it was a nice distinguished sounding name! Good luck!
