Skin products to stop making me look old

Anyone have a cream they swear by to help fight some of the lines showing up on my face? I am really noticing some awesome crows feet lately and want them to hold off just a little longer. So recs?

Re: Skin products to stop making me look old

  • Not exactly a wrinkle reducer per say, but I use this at night and have noticed a big difference in my skin. I actually get compliments from strangers that I have glowing skin--which let me tell you, is huge because I never ever feel like I'm glowing in the slightest. I was scared by the price at first, but I use it every night and have had the same bottle for a year, and it's not even halfway gone yet.

  • I bought a few Philosophy products the other day.  I really like their stuff.

I'm using the Purity face wash, Hope In A Jar moisturizer, When Hope is Not Enough Serum, and miracle worker for my eyes.

My infant has aged me 10 years, seriously.

  • @loislayn & @auroraloo I did the 30 day trial of L'Bri and I never felt like my face was clean and after 30 days, I was still grossly dry. I really don't think it is for my skin.

I have heard others mention this product as well. I think I'm going to try it.

I like using argan oil for my dry skin, but I don't think it helps with fine lines.

  • It's effing expensive, but Exuviance night cream.  It truly does make a huge difference.  I think it reversed some early lines and my skin looks better overall.

And I also use Boots "Advanced Renewal" glycolic kit.  It's like a mini peel you do weekly for a month.  It also really makes a difference.  And it's not too pricey and takes very little time to do.

  • I like philosophy products too.  I swear by products with retinol/retinoids/vitamin A and alpha hydroxy AHA in them, because they do amazing things to get rid of adult acne AND slow the aging process.

I like philosophy's help me retinol night treatment, but any product with retinoids would likely work as well.  If you want something cheaper, alpha hydrox's Retinol ResQ also has the active ingredients that work well on my skin.

I'm too scared to use retinoids while pregnant or breastfeeding though, since the prescriptions dosages aren't great for babies.  It's part of what I'm looking forward to when I wean Julia.
  • can i be the jerk that points out that most (all?) of these creams are just cash grabs? if i remember correctly, you seem like a health-focused person and that's so critical. don't do things in excess except when it comes to drinking water, and take care of the basics (clean, moisturize). the rest is kinda... genetic. (i'm not trying to be a downer: laugh lines are the shit).

make-up can hide some signs of aging, but i won't bother with recommendations here since you didn't ask for that.

I drink a ton of water and still have ridic dry skin. I moisturize all the time and have spent weeks going without to see if that would help. Nothing seems to work. Now I am noticing lines forming when I am more dry than normal.

I know that a good cream makes the difference in my skin, so I was looking for other ideas. I know it is genetic, same with stretch marks during pregnancy, but I am not asking to make them go away, just less obvious. And some products can help that.

I don't wear foundation, my complexion is pretty even with the exception of when the dryness makes me red. Makeup just exasperates it, so I don't wear it.

Ah, it sounds like you have a more specific request rather than just hiding lines. Maybe a dermotologist might help with the dry skin? That must be an annoying challenge. I assume you've tried thicker creams targeting very dry skin? I get dry patches at times that are only helped by straight up Vaseline.
I just don't buy in to most of the creams that are offered to reduce the look of fine lines, etc. for the most part, they're either very temporarily filling (being thicker), diffusing (sparkly), or moisturizing (reduce dryness) and apart from the latter, I think their effect is as obvious as most make ups.
