Products you love or hate? What's working, what's not?

I love these discussions. I do not love how much money I spend as a result of them.

What's working for you, what's not? What products do you love and which ones do you hate?

  • I seriously haven't found anything that I can't do without (or at least without that specific version). We love our play mat, but I think another would work just as well, etc.

Except the boppy. I could totally do without a boppy.

Boppy was a complete waste for me too. I've been trying to sell mine on Craigslist but no takers. I just want it out of the house but don't want to trash it and I don't think Goodwill will accept it as a donation.

It does make a good neck pillow for the couch.
  • Ha, my 4 year old loves the boppy!

  • Any nursing pillow has been a complete waste (Boppy and breast friend). However we do use the Boppy to help make tummy time less evil for DS..He lasts like 7 minutes instead of 3 lol.

We love our RnP and swing (swings side to side). I don't think the brand would matter, he just likes the motion and to be elevated. He HATED the front to back swing so we got the side to side.

And we wouldn't make it through car rides without our little giraffe that plays sounds. The white noise is our saving grace.
  • I used the boppy a lot the first go around, this time not so much.  I guess DD naps in it a little.  The dog likes it though!

The halo swaddles have been great.  I was using the swaddleme's but she kept getting out of those.  DD really likes being swaddled, and it looks like I need to buy a bigger size, but don't really want to spend the money.

Love the My Breast Friend, hate the Boppy except I guess it helps with tummy time.

Love the Mamaroo and the grass drying rack. It helps to have the bottles separate from our other dishes.

DS hated the swaddlemes so we just used an Aden & Anais to swaddle him instead. Love those too.

  • I can't go without the boppy! The Swaddlemes are the only thing that gets her to sleep (once I figured out how to put it on right).

She also loves her kick and play.

  • The main use our boppy is gettting is to take DS2's monthly pictures. I love the Avent Naturals bottles. Now that I am back to work DS2 will take this bottle and not spill any milk.

    11.2011 - DS1

    02.2013 - loss at 6 wks

    06.2014 - DS2

    10.2015 - loss at 12 wks

    03.2017 - DD

  • Oh! The Nuroo Swaddler! We love that thing! It keeps her all contained with it's stretchiness.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • The NoseFrida of course. A+A blankets, the SwaddleMes when he was tinier and now the Halo Swaddles. The Brest Friend pillow has been 100x better for BFing than the Boppy was. The Pottery Barn chamois sheets and stroller blankets aren't must-haves but they are so soft, I love them.
  • I love my sit n stand with a passion. I'm always up and going somewhere or doing something and I've usually got my two little ones. Well, my sit n stand takes a newborn car seat and sits or stands my toddler comfortable. And it's adjustable :D I love adjustable things.
  • Love the swing (basic Graco one), the Boppy, the SwaddleMe for nighttime, and A+A blankets for everything else. Also, a paci clip. Never used one with my boys and DD doesn't take the paci except for in the car seat/stroller but damn, that clip is handy.
  • The ingenuity swing is worthless. It barely even swings.
Loved the RnP for sleeping the first weeks. Now I'm not sure what to do with it

  • I could also live without the boppy. DH uses it as a pillow when he naps on the couch. DS didn't like the 4 moms swing, but loves the regular fisher price one we have.

I can't have enough of the gerber cloth diapers, we use them as burp cloths. So much better than any other burp cloth we have tried! A&A blankets are the best, we also like their swaddle. DS has eczema and the aveeno eczema body wash and lotion had worked great for it.

I can't stand the regular blue snot sucker they gave us at the hospital. We will be buying a nose frida this weekend. Also not a fan of the gerber onsies. They run so incredibly small. DS is wearing the 6-9 month ones and he's by no means a big baby.

  • Love:
    Aden & Anais swaddle blankets
    Swaddleme for nighttime
Summer infant In bed co sleeper
    Grass drying rack
    Diaper stacker (random, I know)
    Baby shusher (white noise alternative)
    Mammababy app to track feedings
Cloth diaper burp rags from Etsy
Car seat stroller drop in thingy
    Advent natural bottles
    Burts bees all purpose ointment
Skip hop Moby bath items (kneeler, spout cover, pouring cup thing)
    Boba wrap
    Nuk nipple shield

    Hate:
Baby sling (the free but pay for shipping one)
    Nursing cover (see above ^)
    Boon orb bottle warmer
    Butt paste- all of them
    Medela bottles

Best purchase is def the A&A blankets and in best co sleeper. We've been blessed with a baby who sleeps 8 hrs a night starting at 2-3 weeks old and I think it has to do with the swaddling and co sleeping.

Absolute worse waste of money was the bottle warmer. I freeze my Breast milk into ice cubes and I have to heat it 4-5 cycles in the Boon orb to get it to melt and to a drinking temp. Takes waaaaay too much time.

  • Love the bouncy seat.
    Love my breast pump
    Love my washable breast pads
    Love my cradle
    Love the white noise machine
    Love love love the swaddle.

    Everything else is useless.

Is it easy to break out of? I need to find a new solution for DD because she breaks out of anything Velcro that I've tried.

  • Our front to back swinging swing. That's the only thing I can set her down in for longer than 10 minutes that keeps her content.

WubbaNub, which we've talked about before. Helps keep her pacifier in.

NoseFrida and Saline Mist- DD has a horrible cold for the last 2 weeks and I don't know how we would clear her out without that.

Baby Einstein toys that light up and play music- any of them. We got one last week and now have 2 because she gets so entranced by them.

Ok. This will be kind of hard to explain. There are pockets inside the wrap - a small pocket for itty bitty babies, then a second pouch that has a removable seem that allows it to go larger.

If that makes sense, hopefully this will too! We slip her body into the middle sized pouch and tuck her arms into the smaller pouch behind her. This keeps her arms right at her sides. Doing that keeps her straight jacketed all night long.

I don't think that won't work with a bigger baby, as it will probably pull it's shoulders back too far. Our kiddo is almost 9 pounds at almost 16 weeks.

  • love the zipadee zip and the ergo that can face inward or forward!
  • I have been thinking about transitioning to the zipadee zip since LO can roll over now.  How is that working for you?
  • Kick N Play Piano Gym.  I drag this into the bathroom and DD plays on it while I shower.
For white noise, we just bought a small clip on fan and turn it on at night, pointed away from her.
    We love Swaddlemes.

    Waste of time--all newborn clothes
    Also, shoes are stupid.
As well as baby nail clippers.  I'd rather just file them down.

For CDing moms, don't get LotusBumz pockets.  DO get Little Monsters!

  • I love the idea of using the boppy for tummy time. Our LO is very big for his age (16 lbs/26 inches at 11 weeks) and he seems to have trouble with his big ole noggin - anyone else with big-headed babies - what do you do for tummy time?

    Love:
    - FP Rock'n'play
    Kick'n'play piano play mat
    - Paci clips
    - Terry-cloth bibs (LO wears one all the time, keeps spit up off the onsies and limits clothing changes)
    - BOB jogging stroller

    Hate:
    - Bibs lined with plastic - the noise really bothers LO and they don't fall back don't when he lifts/lowers his arms because they are too stuff

    Not a fan:
    - Chico lite way plus stroller. It's ok, but I like the three-wheel design of the Britax stroller better, should have gone with me gut. On the plus side, the lite way plus is very compact.

  • Question- does the Wubbanub work with pacifiers besides the Soothie ones? Or is there something similar that works with other types of pacifiers?
  • My Brest Friend nursing pillow has been awesome for me.
    The drying grass rocks
Having 2 sets of pump parts rocks
White noise machine--I love love love them.  I'm buying another from Amazon to see if it will trick our dogs into not barking at night (will leave it in the room they sleep in.)
Robeez socks, easy to put on and they mostly stay on
Bamboo reuseable nursing pads have been great for me.
My boppy pregnancy pillow for sleeping is still being used, so that sucker was well worth the money.

    Worthless:
Boppy for nursing.  Worst.  Thing.  Ever.
Wool reuseable breast pads. A local vendor said they were the bee's knees, but I soak through them if I so much as sneeze.  More absorbent, my right boob laughs at that claim!

Hell, we are still in newborn clothes! 16 weeks on Friday and she can't hold up a pair of 0-3 mos pants, even with a week of poo stores up! I'm buying size 1 diapers for the first time this week! Woo hoo!!

10 weeks here and we are still in newborn clothes too!

I loved the my brest friend for nursing in the beginning, but now I use the boppy or a pillow depending on what room I am in. I just bought the Piano kick and play and that thing is amazing!!!

The only thing that I have a ton of are receiving blankets and we haven't used them much. Oh and baby lotion, haven't used that at all.

Wow that just goes to show that every baby is so different!  DD was 10 days overdue when she was born and has consistently been in the 95th+ percentile for length.  We were in newborn clothes for about a week.  If we weren't planning to have more children, I'd send them over your way!

  • Love--
    A&A swaddle blankets
    Side to side swing
Miracle blanket (LO hasn't escaped yet!)
Babies R Us flannel burp cloths (larger and seem more absorbent than others)
Chicco Keyfit Caddy (way easier than travel system)

    Hate--
    My Brest Friend nursing pillow
    Boppy
Wipes warmer (seriously not much warmer than a cold wipe)
Woombie (can't escape but aggravates her that her hands are so close to her mouth but yet she can't get them)

  • LOVE: RnP, A+A Blankets, Fisher Price Kick n Play Piano, Kindi Kozii Bottle Warmer, Nosefrida, Baby Jogger City Mini

Fisher Price Rainforet Soother (Hangs on the crib)

and Twinkles the light up Octopus!

HATE: Fisher Price Swing.. it makes this annoying clicking noise, The mobile on the Mammaroo

  • Add to me to the love fest for the NuRoo swaddle! That thing is the best and DD almost never breaks out, unlike every other swaddle.

I am also curious as to how you use the Boppy for tummy time.

  • Nookums- works with nuk pacifier. Helps us not lose them constantly.
    My breast friend (twin version)
    Miracle blanket
Trumpette socks- only ones that stay on

  • For tummy time you just put the baby chest down on the highest part of the Boppy instead of on the floor. So the C part of the Boppy would curve around him from side to side. That is probably confusing.
