It is gloomy out and I'm tired. I want to lay in bed and sleep and read. E thinks it is better that we wake up super early and start dancing, playing, shouting etc. I love her even though she says NO to sleeping. Now I have to get dressed so we can go to Gymboree. I'm currently deciding how long I'm going to continue to let her play with her breakfast...she is entertained and I'm sitting here relaxing, but she totally finished eating like five minutes ago.
Mine is today is going to be a little hectic at work so I (shouldn't) be bumping much. That and my pregnant brain is already forgetting a lot of stuff - I feel like there's about 10 replies to threads I meant to make and forgot, so sorry.
Next, I think I'm going to start calling out folks that I think need an avatar. You are too much of a regular to be looking like a faceless troll or newb. Keep in mind it doesn't have to be an actual picture of you. So just do it! @drudolph11 you come to mind. Anybody else have any nominations?
Totally random...I was looking at car seats from the 70s (the last time I was in a car seat) to see how much they have changed. I had flashbacks to burning flesh on vinyl car seat material and remembered the real reason why the middle seat sucks...if you were wearing shorts the metal from baby brothers car seat would sear your leg in the summer, scrape your arm, and dig into your stomach.
@rm2013 - I am sure my sister and I were the only kids who sat in one until we were 2, and my brother 4. I am sure we are also the only kids who grew up with a station wagon but never got to sit in the "way back". My mom would even tell friends parents we had to be buckled up. So embarrassing to be the only kid sitting up front with a friends mom and dad and the rest of the kids going to the birthday party were all in the back seat - with the seat down!!!!! Not that I wasn't safe but I still feel like I missed out on a rite of passage as a kid in the late 70s through 80s.
I am 17 weeks 2da! Its gloomy and gross out, and getting up this morning was tough. I did swing by Dunkin Donuts for my hot chocolate, and they have new flavors out! Salted Caramel, Mint Chocolate, and S'Mores! I went with the S'mores so I hope it is good.
Yesterday, I felt like crap. I had a headache that lasted the whole day, no appetite, and I was exhausted. I was super cranky to everyone at work, and I kind of feel bad now.
It's so gross here, too. I don't think I would have gotten up at all if I hadn't left my window open last night. I was being misted in the face with freezing rain. What a beauuuuutiful start to the day! Do your coworkers know that you're pregnant? If so, I'm sure you don't need to feel awkward, I bet they understand.
OH yeah, most of my nursery furniture came yesterday!!! I'm super excited and dragged it all around to get it set up even though I'll have to move it all again when I have the new floors installed. They were supposed to be done by now. Oh well! The unfortunate part is my little orange cat has taken up residence in that room since it has always been empty. She laid claim to that furniture immediately and seems to think it's her own little kitty jungle gym. She's sooo excited, so hopefully she's over it before baby gets here and rains all over her tiny kitty parade.
Is it Friday yet? I am still so tired after not getting much sleep Monday night and I have to poop. I'm so jealous of H and his ability to poop after every meal. It takes an act of God for me to be able to go. Fiber gummies, stool softeners and then, maybe my body decides to cooperate.
Same here! But then, when I do, it's a wonder I don't clog the pipes!
I never thought I would be wishing for "regularity" at this age!! :P
My random is that my MIL does not have the ability to keep things to herself, and my DH doesn't know when to stop talking to her about sensitive things.
Long story short, she is already calling baby by a *potential* name... On Facebook. /headdesk
But I think I'm gonna get cupcakes today, so there's that.

Ditto - my coworkers just laugh at me when I get cranky and offer to get me food. It's actually an awesome arrangement.
At 10 pm last night I found myself making cake because the craving was that overwhelming. Also have a check up today and results of NIPT so am really nervous! Have a great day everyone!
My random: I am feeling totally overwhelmed about picking out stuff like car seats, cribs, etc. DH and I decided to research one big ticket item at a time so it didn't feel so overwhelming.
So can I ask for some advice? Where do you even start when picking out things like car seats?
Yesterday I woke up feeling like my nasal passage right above the roof of my mouth was clogged but I couldn't clear it. This morning I woke up and I am full on congested. Blegh. Thought about staying home from work and sleeping but I have a huge quarterly report due at the end of the week. Cue to me finding out that report is actually due in like three weeks...ugh! I want to be in bed sleeping this head cold off.
@jnowosielski We were super overwhelmed by everything when we went to register so we decided to break it down too. We're set on a pack'n'play and a few other things but I'm still up in the air about car seats and strollers and such. My cousin recommended the Baby Book of Bargains, it's like consumer reports for baby stuff and it's been a great help in narrowing down to one or two brands/models and then going from there.
I'm sure some of the STM(+) have more input but you're definitely not alone in the overwhelmed department.
"Serious is only something you have to be until you can be silly again."
Is it March yet??? This is taking forever. It's probably because I've been trying to get pregnant, pregnant, not pregnant, then trying, then pregnant again, for YEARS. Literally.
On a separate note, we booked a pre-baby vacay yesterday (first week of Nov.) to Cancun and Tulum, Mex. So excited.
What's for breakfast? @hollmb I want Dunkin Donuts hot chocolate...

I've been using consumerreports.com and just discovered babygearlab.com...
Sorry to anyone with gloomy weather and feeling unwell today. Boo.
Meanwhile in Arizona, the heat finally broke! The temperatures dipped below 60 and we slept the windows open. It felt so incredibly good to get some fresh air into the house. And, I slept through the night and didn't wake up once for the first time in months. Ahhhhhh.
Our cafeteria doesn't open for another 20 minutes. I'm anxiously awaiting breakfast. Can't decide if I want a breakfast burrito or an omelet. Decisions...
My first pregnancy was awesome. Just a lot of pain. This time around, I'm sicker than I've ever been. I can barely eat and then even when I do eat I still feel sick afterwards. The other day I started throwing up bile cuz there was nothing in my system from puking all day the day before. It hurts when you start puking and nothing comes out. I'm so over this already.
@lawsonellis That's awful. My SO's mother is very similar. She tells all the news to family or posts on Face Book. SO & I agreed that we aren't telling any family members the names we've chosen until the baby arrives.
My random is that I'm coming down with a cold. Not sleeping well at night, long hours at work, and now I'm starting to feel like crap. I'm hoping I can kick this before the weekend.
I woke up today and can like, feel my belly grew a little. It feels different lol.
Also that pimple I had apparently turned out to be a cold sore, the first one I've ever had. So I feel gross even though something like 90% of people have the virus in them. It's healing pretty quickly though but I have a class tonight where we all sit at one long table on top of each other and I'm gonna be feeling pretty self conscious all night.
Oh and even though I shouldn't be involved my mom told me last night I should be proud of H because he stood up to his mom who was apparently trying to take over the baby shower planning from my mom and do a bunch of shit I wouldn't like. I don't care what details she would do but trying to strong arm my mom is what annoyed me. Apparently H got a handle on it though and stood up for my mom. I'm happy.
So 3 very different randoms for this morning. I'm off to nursing soon and prob won't bump much today

I totally thought it sounded like that, but didn't want to say anything. I was totally in denial the first time I got one too. It's so embarrassing and gross. Get some abreva, it really does help.

Haha I know i know!! But my thing won't let me. I have pictures added but my avatar won't change and I don't know why I have been trying to deal with this since I first got on here. Lol I put the pictures there and they show up on my end but don't change in the posts. Am I doing something wrong?
March 15' January Siggy Callenge: Animals Being Jerks
I'm watching my dudes eat their oatmeal while I'm enjoying my Carmel drizzle coffee ~O) I just put on Toy Story of Terror for them, its pretty cute and 'scarwee' < --- in my youngest's voice!
I've developed what I assume (no clue) is restless leg syndrome. At night, when laying on the couch or going to bed, my legs just feel... weird. my hips (especially near my butt) are tender(ish) and achy, and my legs feel like there is a mild vibration going through them... I don't know how else to explain it. It's not painful, but just super uncomfortable and annoying. Tips?
@lawsonellis That's so annoying! My MIL has been known to do similar things including showing H a picture of me in my wedding dress before our wedding while she was drunk. She doesn't get to know things anymore.
Man, I may have punched a MIL for showing H me in THE dress!
II am going to have to reiterate with DH that his mom is on a need to know basis, and she basically doesn't need to know anything :P
@RQuinlin I want your morning, with the sunrise and the hair appointment!
@jnowosielski I second Lucie's List. It takes the enormous amount of options out there and condenses it down to info that's manageable and fun to read. I used it a lot when I was choosing my gear the first time around
My random is that we're getting our master bath and hall bathroom renovated from the original 1969 bathrooms, and they're starting tomorrow. I am super excited for modern bathrooms, but it also means a ton of work tonight moving everything out. We have a bedroom and full bath in our basement (built as a nanny suite I think), so we're going to be sleeping down there for the month to stay away from the dust and chaos. It's a lot to move and organize. Exciting though!!
Oh, and my dryer seems to be broken, which I think I'm going to use to try to talk DH into renovating our laundry room/mud room too. The room is in serious need of re-organization. The space is used terribly. Wasn't planning to do it just now, but we'll have the contractor there, and need to buy a new dryer, so... Seems convincing, right?
@wendyld I heard abreva works but I thought you had to take it at the first sign of a cold sore coming? Have you ever used it once it's already forming a scab?
Is it March yet??? This is taking forever. It's probably because I've been trying to get pregnant, pregnant, not pregnant, then trying, then pregnant again, for YEARS.
I feel the same way.
We have our 18w u/s today. I'm in the waiting room right now. I keep having flashbacks to our 18w u/s last year (a year ago next week.). That's when we got Noah's fatal diagnosis.
@wendyld I heard abreva works but I thought you had to take it at the first sign of a cold sore coming? Have you ever used it once it's already forming a scab?
Yes, it keeps it dried out so that it doesn't continue to bubble up.

I am so nervous.
So many hugs. You've got this. Samuel will be just perfect.
It's food day again at work and I have already had way too much food. It seems like everyone brought in fall food and I just can't resist. Is it lunch time yet?
I wish more than anything that my job had food day. Oh things I could eat!
The science teacher at school was making ice cream with dry ice for a science experiment. She gave me some and it tasted like sour fire. I'm good, thanks.
@janda426 I was going to ask if you thought it might be a cold sore when you wrote about it being bubbly. (Yeah, that stuck in my mind) but ended up not following up. Sorry!
Abreva will be your best friend. Cold sores can reoccur (I get them every few months). Typically when your immune system is compromised (I think we're more prone to them when pregnant).
Just as an fyi, I avoid kissing hubby at all when I feel one coming on (it starts as a tingle. So I almost always feel it). If you get Abreva on it at the stage where it just tingles, you can avoid an aweful blow-out sore. They're highly contagious, but I think some people are naturally immune?
I started getting them when I was 7-8 ... try explaining that to your friends. I remember teasing that I had 'herpes' in middle school. Drank after my parents and caught it from them. Definitely something to keep in mind! Managed to learn to control it more by high school (Abreva I think? Or something else?), since it's almost impossible to hide for me.
That being said, you may never get one again! They suck, so I hope it heals well, and quickly for you!!
Is it bad that I'm tempted to set an alarm for tomorrow morning so I can make a random titled, "Cock gobblers!"? I love that movie.
Oh and I forgot to mention this yesterday. The roots of my molars that were pulled on Friday were inside my sinuses. So guess who has two thumbs, a wicked case of pregnancy congestion, and was instructed not to blow her nose for the next 4 weeks. THIS GIRL.
So last night I feel asleep before my FI while he was playing his PS4. Normal. I wake up around 3 am and I spot a huge ass black spider on the pillow next to me. I then proceeded to jump out of the bed in fear letting him know there is a spider in the bed. While I'm freaking out I accidently turned a switch off that coincidently is connected to his tv and PS4. My god, I got the scariest death stare of my life! So he starts to inspect the bed and pillows for this gigantic spider and finds nothing at all...he searched for like 10 minutes because he hates spiders with a passion. I'm beginning to think it was a dream and I freaked out and messed up his game play for nothing. Oops sorry boo boo lol
I have been playing effing phone tag with the genetic counselor woman from the fetal medicine place to hear back about a blood test I had over two weeks ago. We've literally been missing each other for the past week and a half now. I call and the receptionist is like, "Really? You're still trying to talk to her?!" At least she's sympathetic and not annoyed with me calling 6 times a day.
Can I just find out for certain baby is golden and I can just move past all the could happens and might be wrongs? IS THAT SO HARD TO ASK? I'm so beyond frustrated we keep missing each other at this point.
