As many of your already know I was diagnosed with severe pre-e, went in for a regular check up and was ultimately transferred a couple hours away from my home to a better hospital that would be equipped for a preemie birth.
I had been at the hospital for a week and 2 days when I went for a BPP Ultrasound (Friday 9/26). We had several of these done in the past but this time was the first time he hadn't passed the test for what they look for and so a fetal medical specialist came in to talk to me about my symptoms and what the possible game plan was for delivery in the future. She said "Just for giggles, lets see how that BP looks" & it ended up being 167/115 & I'll never forget her smiling and saying "Ok, I think we're gonna have a baby today!" & then turning to her staff and asking them to call L&D & let them know I'd be coming to be induced.
*Side Note*-We had been in the hospital for a good while with no signs of delivery in the immediate future so DH ran to his office that day to get some work done and my mom stayed with me that day. When we found out I would be induced I just smiled and was excited, but my mom however was a blubbering mess. She temporarily lost her mind and literally ran down the hall and jumped an elevator, leaving me behind, so go get her phone and start calling people lol. CRAZY
ANYWAY, The inserted the pill into my cervix to induce me and checked me 4 hours later. I was at 1cm. They inserted ANOTHER pill to thin everything out and then 4 hours later...still 1 cm SO, they inserted a cath into the cervix that was able to be blown up and we were told that over the course of about 2-4 hours, it would dilate me up to 4cm. FIFTEEN minutes later it popped out and I was at 4cm. I was so excited but it gave me false hope that things were moving along because from then all through the night I stayed at 4cm and broke DH's hand through each contraction. They were BRUTAL. In the midst of this I had a cath put in that caused me so much pain I laid there crying for 45 minutes and ultimately they decided to take it out and let me use a bed pan....that was interesting.
SO FINALLY, at some point (I had lost all track of time/day/place lol) they gave me my epidural. Not so much fun I felt the medicine spread from hip to hip and let out a few monster growls because I'm a big baby but after a few minutes life was wonderful. I laid there for about 15 minutes letting it all sink in when suddenly a code was called and a giant team of people came running into my room. The dr quickly strapped an oxygen mask on me and since I was unable to move they had several people on each side of me moving me from on side to the other and it was complete, scary, chaos. I had no idea what was going on! My Dr. said "Ok, we've stabilized", then she proceeded to tell me that I had a reaction to the epi that caused my contractions to be so intense and so close together that it dropped my bp and baby's heartbeat drastically and they were a few seconds away from an emergency c section but thankfully we got everything back to normal, however, they stopped the Pitocin for 2 hours to give me and baby a break and then after that 2 hours, started it again.
Roughly 2:15pm on Saturday 9/27 my dr came back in and said "Since we've restarted the Pitocin, you're probably only about 5 or 6 at this point, but lets check" & MUCH to her surprise she said "Omg! You're ready!", so...again...there went a giant team of people running around, scrubbing up, setting up tables and tools for any scenario that might happen. A few minutes later everyone was "in position" & the Dr told me to try a practice push and right before I did she said "NOPE!! HE'S RIGHT THERE!" lol. I pushed twice, and not even for 1 entire minute before he was out. I couldn't believe that I had went through so much pain and drama and that the actual pushing was absolutely nothing at all. They had told us to be prepared for if he didn't start crying or responding, that they would take him straight out of the room and to the NICU, however, he came out with his cord dangled all around him like the ghost of Christmas past, screaming AND breathing on his own. He was 16 1/2 inches long & 3lbs 9oz. Where we initially didn't have any hope of getting to be with him right away, we now did. He got to stay with us for about 40 minutes before they took him to the NICU. It didn't even feel real tbh, and still doesn't but I'm in love with him regardless.
Onto my own issues, I unfortunately now have a uterus infection, uti and possible kidney infection and will continue to be hospitalized longer than I was supposed to be. Yesterday I had a fever of 103.5 & was not able to go see him It's always something...BUT, they're pumping a mass amount of antibiotics in me and have cleared me today to go see him so I think I may do that right now!
I attached a few photos of the one time I've seen him since he was born

Re: infection, cipro works wonders, and I'm guessing you can use it now that he's been born (can't while pregnant). I had a UTI that got to my kidneys and was causing back pain and bleeding, and cipro eliminated all the symptoms within 24 hours. Hope it (or whatever other antibiotic) works just as well for you.
Praying unceasingly for a miracle. ALL welcome!
