This is my 4th child, I've never had this. It's been going on for a couple of weeks now and is definitely getting worse. When I am in bed at night, my stomach feels softer, but it will harden here & there, but not constant.....then the moment my feet hit the ground, my stomach is hard as a rock and does not let up until I am back to laying down, it's like one long contraction....my doc just kind of brushed it off Fri at my appt....I am an on my feet/active person and have noticed that in the last few weeks, it's been a struggle and by the end of the day, I am in a lot of pain, but now, it's so bad that I can only do about 1/4 of what I would usually do before I have to quit This makes me very unhappy. I have 3 other children with lots going on. I'm thinking this is def getting worse and will only continue to get worse (I'll be 34 weeks on Wed). I can't imagine making it to 39 weeks (scheduled c-section). I just brought my kids to bed and it was so painful, when I laid back down, I had a lot of cramping in my lower abdomen.

I don't necessarily have a continuous tightening, but I definitely have a LOT of BH. I'd bring it up with your doctor again...especially if it is getting painful. From what I've been told, BH shouldn't be painful, just uncomfortable.
I think I kinda have the the same thing going on and I'm 34 weeks. Today has been the worst day of it for me so far. It's kind of. nerve wracking because it does feel like one extra long contraction when I'm walking or standing, and now I have some lower abdominal pain also. I would say if it's that bothersome you can always go to l & d to make sure you aren't dilated. If this keeps up I just may call my doctor tomorrow for reassurance too.
It's awful because as long as I am standing, my stomach is tightened & painful...that is not normal. I have to lay down or sit down for it to soften up some.....even while I am sitting, it tightens, but at least it softens again....when I am on my feet, forget it.

I started experiencing contractions last Wed (at 32w1d) that were actually 2 min apart. After having an FFn test done and checking my cervix (which showed no dilation), the dr put me on Procardia to stop the contractions. That didn't work right away so I needed a shot. I've been on bed rest since. The dr said that since the contractions aren't causing me to dilate, I just have an irritable uterus. I have an appointment this afternoon to find out if I can come off bed rest and return to work.

Not to copy, but almost this to a T. (except I didn't get the shot...still on procardia)
I have irritable uterus too and have been having almost continuous tightening since saturday evening. Last night I had another episode of pre term labor on top of what now seems to be constant tightening. It made it hard to tell when a contraction was starting and ending. I was having over 20 an hour from 1:30 to 5:30.
I did call my doctor around 2:30, but since I'm 35 weeks now Procardia won't do anything for me anymore he said. I was on it from 32 to 34 weeks. So, I was up all night waiting for them to dissipate so I could fall back to sleep or get bad enough to necessitate another trip to L&D. Due to my marginal placenta and high amniotic fluid, I was told not to mess around waiting if they get really bad. However, I handle pain well so it makes me wonder if what I consider to be uncomfortable would be something that someone else would not hesitate to go to L&D for.
I'm in a similar boat. L&D said irritable uterus Sat night, but my doc said pre-term labor because I've progressed a little. She also said baby is super low and she easily could feel her head during my last check.
No meds for me at the moment. I've been pulled from work because I'm in outside sales. Just the trip in the car to my OB appointment increased the frequency of my contractions. They really aren't timetable. Some of them hurt and others are just uncomfortable. My stomach gets rock hard and won't let up. I'm working on figuring out if there are any specific triggers. No luck yet!
Im getting bad bh contractions too. I'm 33 weeks. Laying down, sitting up, walking, standing, u name it. Took a bath and they stopped for a little bit. Really uncomfortable/annoying. Helps to lay down on left side and nurse said to drink tons of h20
Same thing happened to me last week. Doc told me I'm overdoing it and sent me home to bed for 3 days. Now I'm only to go to work and home and to minimize my workload as much as possible which really isn't, so we'll see how that goes. I'm only 32 weeks, not dilated. Pain and cramping have improved since slowing down
I've had the exact same thing. I've been on modified bed rest. The tightening isn't painful as much as it is annoying and irritating. It isn't causing me to dilate but the doc is concerned it could as I get farther along (I am 33 weeks now and this started at 29 weeks). I could not go on Procardia because is lowers blood pressure and mine has been low my whole pregnancy. They told me it was an irritable uterus but I had never heard of that before. I'm sorry you are going through this but glad to hear I'm not the only one!
