Massage right before ER?

To anyone who has done IVF before:  This is my first IVF cycle.  I was thinking of scheduling a massage this coming weekend.  ER will probably be early next week.  Do you think I'll be too uncomfortable from the bloating and enlarged ovaries to lay on my stomach and enjoy the massage?  It seems like a lot of people on here say they're uncomfortable right before ER.

Thanks!

  • I would have been too uncomfortable to lay flat on my stomach. Right before my ER I could only sleep on my back at night.

  • I was pretty uncomfortable too. But I WAS able to sleep on my stomach. Still it didn't feel good. But I def don't think I would be able to handle someone pressing on my back while I was laying on my stomach.
  • I could barely sit, let alone lay on my belly right before my ER.  I would not have been able to have a massage but everyone is different.  Good luck!

  • ditto pp's. After about 3-4 days of stims I no longer wanted to lay on my stomach. By the end I didn't even want to lay on my side b/c it felt like my ovaries were flopping around!

Maybe you could just ask about their cancellation policy and cancel the day before if you don't feel up to it.

  • Ok, thanks everyone!  I guess I'll get a facial or manicure instead (just looking for something to help me relax)...Sleep

  • You could call the spa or speak to a massage therapist there and ask if they can do the massage in a side-lying position (if that's still a comfortable position for you).....it's just a few adjustments with pillows.

I am a massage therapist and I would be more than happy to accommodate a client with any request to make her more comfortable.

    Hope this helps!  GL!
