Hi, my baby turns 4 months tomorrow and he is EBF at home with me 4-5 days per week and with a nanny the other 2-3 days. I send 3, 4 oz bottles and he was taking them about every 3 hours. He was also nursing about every 3 hours during the day (5x/day), with 1-2 feeds overnight. Lately he hasn't been hungry when the nanny offers after 3 hours. He seems to eat better if she lets him go 3.5-4 hours, but with this schedule, he is only eating 4x during the day + 1-2 at night. And I obviously want to get him off night feeds at some point, but is 4-5 feeds enough in 24 hours? Will my supply still be ok? I feed on demand at home, but he won't get really hungry and fussy until after 4 hours, so I usually offer after 3, should I try to space these feeds out? I am also wondering if I should increase the volume of the bottles that I send so that he gets more per feeding, though he seems content after 4 oz. He is gaining weight well and a really happy guy. Sorry for the long post, but any advice or experience with this would be so helpful! TIA!
Re: 4 month old breastfeeding frequency
I think as long as he is happy and growing, then it should be fine.
