Convertible Carseats?

At what age did you switch your babies to convertible car seats? Mine is still so young, but they are getting SO heavy! (12lb and 13lb!)

We are thinking of getting britax diplomats, anyone have them?

TIA!

Re: Convertible Carseats?

  • We just bought convertible car seats yesterday.  At their 5 month appointment a month ago our girls were both right around 18 pounds.  Basically since then we've been leaving their infant seats in the car and not carrying them around in the seats.  At their sizes the girls don't seem very comfortable in their infant seats anymore, either, so they really needed convertible seats.  I was hoping to get more use out of the infant seats because now I don't know how I'm going to get both of them to the car by myself, but I'll figure that out.

We got Britax Marathons, but haven't used them yet, so I can't really tell you anything about them.

  • We are still using ours at 8 months. The girls weigh about 16 pounds and it's getting super heavy to lug them around.

The only thing stopping me from installing our convertibles in my car (we got the evenflo triumph advances) is that we are using them in our living room right now!   The girls are too mobile for bouncies right now, but can't figure out how to squirm out of the carseats yet! :)

  • Hey~  We are still using our snug rides at 14 months old.  They are little though.  Almost 17 lbs and probably almost 19 lbs.  They are heavy to carry, but I still can.  We just bought our convertibles this weekend and got the first years true fit car seats.  DH started to try and put them in yesterday, but ran out of time.  I think we will be really happy with them though.  Look them up on line.  They were rated really well, better than most on the nhtsa.gov site.  They have the best overall rating for foward and rear facing and they were $180.  I have seen them a little cheaper online also.  Good Luck!
