First pregnancy

I've been thinking recently about how I will never have a first pregnancy again. I have all these emotions about it. Today, I had this article pop up on my Facebook and it puts into words exactly how I have been feeling. Is anyone else feeling like this? I don't want to be pregnant again right now, but I miss the excitement of being pregnant for the first time.

I totally agree. Pregnancy sucks but you get a cool thing at the end. But seriously it is the worst.

As a one and done mama, I grieve this all the time. I want more babies but with my stepson and DS, we just don't know if we could handle more children. I had an amazing and healthy pregnancy and a really great birth experience so I've just had to feel grateful for that.

After seeing the TTC thread I seriously thought this was going to be a SS thread announcing the first person pregnant for next June.

^ This, I really enjoyed being pregnant and had a great birth but with LO and two step kids we decided is best for our family to be one and done and this makes me kind of sad, I miss my pregnant belly and will do it again without a doubt.

Oh geez, no way! Not me. I wish those ladies TTC the best of luck, but I won't be joining them soon!

I enjoyed my first pregnancy way more because I didn't have to take care of anyone else. I would come home from work, eat ice cream in bed, nap, do whatever I wanted. This time around it was difficult to feel like crap for 20 weeks with a toddler who didn't understand/didn't care. Then after I felt better, I was huge and tired. Toddler still didn't care. The second pregnancy felt like it went much faster too.

This was totally the case with me. With the first I had time (and more energy) to read up on all things pregnancy and baby. Creating a registry was challenging, yet fun. I had no idea what to expect and everything was a first experience. Family was definitely more excited about it, too, being our first and the first grandchild on my side. My second pregnancy went by fast and I was exhausted from taking care of a young toddler. In fact, I didn't put together a room while pregnant for ds because I felt like I already just did one. I knew what to expect and all the little things I worried about having or doing before Dd1 arrived seemed unimportant for ds, and pretty silly knowing what I then knew. I was jaded and now knew what to expect. The only thing that made it different was that we did not find out the sex.  The third time was special because I was able to share it with my kids, but it still wasn't the same.  

There is nothing like rolling into the hospital room as a soon to be first time parent. My feelings and emotions were never the same in my other pregnancies as they were that first time.

I have lots of feels on this. I didn't get to "finish" my first pregnancy so in a way my second pregnancy contained a lot of firsts. But I do relate to the second one being different with another baby already in the picture.

I get it, but I'm honestly hoping that I can enjoy being pregnant more, or in a different way, next time around... I was so anxious the whole time. I'd like to experience it with a different approach.

I was so overwhelmed this past time that I would love to be pregnant and feel a little more like, "I've got this!" But I remember especially in the first trimester it took everything I had to just make it in to work for the day and on here all the STM would be talking about playing with / taking care of their children. I couldn't imagine having to take care of DD on top of all the first trimester symptoms!

I had a very difficult second half of my pregnancy (heart palpitations and arrhythmia, polyhydramnios, and modified bed rest) but shit I would do it all again for a LO. Just not yet! I'm looking forward to knowing what to expect next time around, and hopefully not having that awful high amniotic fluid complication again!

I also had a really great pregnancy and delivery. I don't want to do it again quite yet, but I am looking forward to a second pregnancy in a year and a half. I think I will be less anxious over every little twinge and what to buy/not to buy. There are things I would do differently next time. I will workout more than I did before, not eat as much ice cream, and take more pictures.
