do you set alarm in night?

I know I supposed to feed my newborn frequently but sometimes in the night she stays asleep. What do you ladies do to keep a schedule? Do you set an alarm and try to be precise or are you a little more lenient if you can squeeze in a little extra sleep?

Re: do you set alarm in night?

  • How old is your newborn?  I set an alarm in the very beginning until the pediatrician gave the go ahead that it was okay to let the baby go one longer sleep session at night (I forget when that was).

We did, but we had alarmist medical providers too :(. If, God and husband willing ;) I do this again, I will be a bit less rigid (I hope). I also had to pump every 2 hrs round the clock for the 1st 8 weeks, so there was that :/

  • Is your baby over 2 weeks old and back to birthweight?

If yes, let baby sleep.  If not, wake at least every 3 hours (start to start).
    Almost.

  • I let my baby sleep! I think nature is the best judge and if he was sleeping it meant that he needed to!
  • I used an alarm for the first two weeks but honestly it hardly ever went off before LO woke hungry.

Did you go by the theory of once they return to birth weight than its ok?

Well, my body just adjusted. I haven't had more than 3 hrs consecutive sleep in nearly 14 mos....
