TTC After a Loss

OPK Question

OK - not sure if this should go on another thread.  If it should, please tell me :D

As a few of you know, this is my first cycle using OPKs.  I am still waiting for them to come in the mail, but I was reading up about them last night and had a few questions.

First off, I'm using wondfos.  It was unclear from Amazon if those are mid-stream or dip in a cup?
Second, it's my understanding that it's not positive until the test line is as dark or darker than the control line right?  And if that's the case - what day do you usually start testing? I saw a lot of ladies taping them to a piece of paper and comparing each day - is this necessary or no?  Also - do you test more than once a day?

Sorry so many questions - I want to make sure I used them right!!

Thanks in advance for yall's help!!

Re: OPK Question

  • I use wondfos and dip in a cup. I usually O on CD18, but I usually start testing on CD10 or 11. I just like to make sure I don't miss it as I've been known to O slightly earlier than CD18. My tests always have a faint second line on them (these are considered negative). I test with my second morning urine because I had problems in the past when testing later in the day. I drink 64 oz of water every day and sometimes the test line wouldn't even show up if I tested in the afternoon (I figured my urine was just too diluted). I've always been able to catch my surge with SMU. Typically I have one "pretty dark but not quite positive" the day before my surge, then the next day will be a very obvious "yes this is definitely positive" test, and then the next day they are back to neg. I found it helpful to line them all up over a few days the first time I used them, but I haven't had to since because I know what to expect.

  • I use Wondfo's as well and dip in a cup.   I test in the morning at first, but when I start getting close to a positive I test in the afternoon as well.  I quite drinking at lunchtime and test when I get home at 4:00.  I don't keep any to compare.  It's either positive or it's not.  O comes anywhere from CD18-21, so I start testing around CD15.  Good luck!

  • I didn't use Wondfo's but I know how nerve wracking it can be making sure you are doing everything right!  I read the directions like every night so when the time came I would be prepared, there seemed to be a lot of rules.  Good luck!!
