~*~*MSPI Moms Weekly Check-In*~*~
Welcome! This is a check-in for moms who are/were on a dairy free and/or soy free diet due to their LO's intolerance. The check-ins will be posted every Monday on the Breastfeeding board and XP'd to the Food Allergy board. If you'd like to join the group, just post an intro here and dive in! To check out the archive of our previous check-ins, please see the MSPI Moms Blog (www.mspimoms.blogspot.com).

2. How long have you been on the diet? Are you avoiding any other food(s)?

Re: ~*~*MSPI Moms Weekly Check-In*~*~ 09/01
1. How are you doing? How is your LO doing? We are both doing really well.
2. How long have you been on the diet? Are you avoiding any other food(s)? For about 6 months. I'm avoiding diary, soy, eggs, nuts, beef, corn, wheat, pineapple and black beans.
3. Any other burning questions you'd like answered or experiences to share? I am on the fence about challenging something from the list above into my diet. I am not sure if it's too soon and things are going so well, I'm nervous to mess with that.
4. Do you plan to go back to your old eating habits when the diet is over? Believe it or not, I think I'd like to stick to parts of the diet. I'm looking forward to having beef, nuts and eggs though!!
1. How are you doing? How is your LO doing?
Doing great! This may be my last check-in. We have re-introduced baked dairy, baked cheese, and soy flour with no issue. Trying unbaked cheese this week, then maybe butter next week. DD turns one in 4 weeks and I'd like to know if I need to make a special allergy-free cake for her, or if she can have a regular cake with buttercream
2. How long have you been on the diet? Are you avoiding any other food(s)?
9 months. We started the diet at 8 weeks and avoided dairy, soy, beef, and tree nuts until I started re-introducing things at 10 1/2 months.
3. Any other burning questions you'd like answered or experiences to share?
Any thoughts on what you'll be doing for future babies? Or those of you who have had more than one LO with MSPI, what was your plan? What I'm seeing recommended the most is to cut out dairy/soy in the last month of pregnancy so it is out of your system by the time LO is born. Then I guess you do food trials and see how the baby reacts? DD didn't really show any symptoms until 7 weeks when her stools had mucus and then blood in them, so I don't know if it just took 7 weeks of exposure to cause enough damage to see a symptom? And if so, how would you know based off just a quick food trial? I guess when the time comes, I'll do more research on the topic but was just curious if anyone else had given it thought.
4. Do you plan to go back to your old eating habits when the diet is over?
Absolutely. I love cheese and chocolate way too much to not. I will probably keep up with some of the new snacks I've discovered and may not eat as much dairy as I previously did, but I will definitely be going back to my old ways
