I'm so glad that the baby is ok. That is an awful term, and I'm sorry you had the scare. We're rooting for you and babe. Reach out whenever you need to, I know bed rest can be tough.
I'm sorry they use that phrase (which really means NOTHING), but I'm so glad to hear everything looks ok.
Why the fuck would they use it then? Ugh! Some times people confuse me so much. I mean maybe it's just me but I feel like that term would just freak people out...do I really need bed rest then? I'm so lost now.
Eta: I'm not cussing at you which I'm sure you know (but wanted to make sure). I just don't like the fact that they could say something so serious when it could be nothing.

I think because you went in with bleeding and concerns of a miscarriage they would be liable if they didn't label it as a "threatened miscarriage". They also don't diagnose a miscarriage (at least in my experiences) but take the tests, give you some vague information and send you back to the OB. My take from the ER team is that they can treat simple, basic triage but if it needs more than that or a formal diagnosis they will send you onto another doctor in that specialty (i.e. the OB, oncologists, etc.). So with all of that being said try to stay calm, drink lots of fluids, and watch plenty of trashy tv. I'm so sorry you're going through this BUT it's a GREAT sign that the baby is measuring on track. I'm thinking of you

That's the thing that confuses me they said I was measuring on track but it was too early to see the baby I thought for sure by 11 weeks they could see SOMETHING...I will be switching from a midwife to the OB I was told to follow up with. (He's a lot closer too)
Glad you and the baby are ok. How can they say you're measuring on track if they can't see anything?
I have NO clue...the damn ER dr barely said 2 words to me I TRIED to ask questions and get answers but he brushed me off like I was lower than dog shit. I am EXTREMELY frustrated with him if not the hospital.
That does sound very frustrating, sorry you had to go through that. Try not to stress out anymore, I know it's hard but try to stay calm until you get answers from your OB.
Good to hear (despite the other vague and disconcerting words from the Dr.) that baby is hanging in there and the outlook is good. Hope you get to see the OB very soon, and that he is more reassuring and has a better bedside manner.

Glad to hear you are both okay. Threatened miscarriage is a really ridiculous term, not to mention incredibly scary. I'm sorry you had to hear that. Hopefully with some bed rest you and the baby will be better in no time.
Was bleeding from a sub chorionic hematoma? They sometimes call that a threatened miscarriage but it isn't necessarily (I've had two sch bleeds already)

If I do it wasn't mentioned...like I said the dr barely said 2 words to me

They saw the baby, the ER tech is just not allowed to show ot to you before first tri (or at all in some ERs). The tech might have lied to save themselves from a fight.
I went in with the same issues at 6 weeks, and the ER is really only useful to make sure you aren't having an ectopic pregnancy (which is an emergency, it's worth to check for). If you are bleeding, then you get put down as 'threatened miscarriage'.
For any info beyond that, you need you go to an OB. The ER was able to find my baby and measure its growth, but couldn't find the HB. I had to wait an agonizing week to go to the OB, bleeding the entire time.
Definitely go on bed rest until you can see the OB. Maybe the ER was wrong to order it, maybe not. It's not something you want to mess around with until it's cleared up by the OB.
Thoughts sending your way. I have been to the ER twice in as many weeks and it is such a scary process. Follow the bed rest and keep positive thoughts.
FYI in case you wanted to know they use the term threatened miscarriage because that's the only diagnosis code available to doctors for bleeding during pregnancy. They have to by law code it as something and with that being the only option it's what us hormonal pregnant women get stuck with.
