For those of us that maybe returning to work and want to feel revamped, or just want to feel good in general, for a dinner or you name it. Let's add some secrets or beauty tips here. These always get me excited!
Ex: when I take a bath (if I have time) I love adding in about two tablespoons of "skin so soft" by Avon in the water. You come out feeling like a silky sexy kitten.
I also put foundation on my lips in order to help keep my lipstick on longer during each day. I have put Coco butter on my face after the shower everyday for over 15 years. It's amazing!
The only thing that helps my feet when they're extra dry is to coat them in petroleum jelly before bed, and then cover them with cotton socks. It's super cheap and it works great.
Coffee grounds and coconut oil mixed together to make a body scrub leaves my skin feeling amazing. The caffeine in the coffee grounds is supposed to help reduce cellulite!
I hit my eye lash curler with a blast of heat from my blow dryer to get my lashes extra curled before swiping on mascara.
@TexasGirl81 That's awesome! Gotta start early I picked up the shaving thing from my mom, she's been doing it since she was 20, and everyone thinks we are sisters.
Not really a secret but I just want to say that if you've never used body scrubs before, do that shit now! I have this citrus scented kind and a brown sugar kind. It leaves my skin soooooo soft and silky and I step out of the shower with this "come get me. I'm delicious." attitude. Seriously though. Da bomb.
This is a great thread - as someone who ran out of her hair product months ago and has been using her husband's LA Looks gel (yes they still make it and yes he still buys it no matter how many other products I introduce him to), on her curly hair despite knowing better, I'm taking notes!
If you have an old curling iron laying around, you can turn it into a curling wand by removing the clamp. I did this with my 1 inch barrel curling iron and it works just as well as any curling wand to get those pretty loose curls!
I've got another. It's not even a product. If your intention is to step out looking fabulous then you need to bring out a fabulous attitude. Don't mistake this for a bitch attitude. Smile big, flip and bounce your hair, switch those hips, and walk with confidence. Seriously. I believe if you feel beautiful, no matter how much make up you do or don't put on, you will be flawless. Also, I think you need to treat yourself every once and a while. Get a new dress. If you can't afford one, style up one that you already have in a new way. Get a facial or a massage. If you can't go out a buy one, do one at home. My fav thing to do to feel bad as shit is to blast my fav song "pretty girl rock" (by keri hilson) while getting ready for the day. It's a confidence booster IMO. So, music is a great way to do it too!
So, that's my little secret it's what I tell ALL my brides.
These are awesome tips! @TexasGirl81 what brand coco butter lotion do you use?
Not sure I have much to contribute, but here's a few I can think of:
I angle my finger at the outside of my eye while I put on eyeshadow to keep a sharp shadow line.
Speaking of eyeshadow, I use Too Faced Eyeshadow kits. I use the instructions that come with each new kit til I'm comfortable experimenting on my own. Can't tell you how many people have asked me to do their eyes since I started doing this eight years ago.
Loving cocoa butter lip balm for my lips - they don't get chapped like they used to.
I've been using bronzer on the sides of my face to make my face appear thinner. Full face while pregnant was no fun and I've stuck with the bronzed look since then even tho my face is a little less full.
My favorite "product" these days is organic coconut oil. It works so well For dry chapped nipples and it's completely safe. I suffer from eczema on my nipples and it has worked wonders instead of using steroid creams while nursing.
@Lizzy42 have you tried breast milk for acne? I broke out terribly during my pregnancy and it doesn't want to go away. I've heard this but still haven't tried it. Makes me a little squimish...but if it works, I'll do anything!
How can I get my eye shadow to stay on longer throughout the day???? I have tried primers and they are not working.
Have you ever tried using your concealer or liquid foundation? Also, some people have to add a powder foundation on top of the liquid foundation to soak up excess oils in the skin.
@Pinksundrops I started off using Queen Helen when I was younger. Then forever I used the Suave brand. Then.....I discovered the same thing at Target, the up and up version.
Apply eye shadow first. Then use a make up remove under and around eyes to r remove excess. Then apply foundation etc.....Seriously makes under eyes looks so much better! I second the cheap conditioner as shaving cream. I've always done it makes legs so silky. You can use it if your ever in a pinch and need a dry shave too. Oh and use a soft bristled tooth brush to exfoliate lips
I use Mary Kay for most of my products. (I am a consultant, but only do so to hang out with an awesome group of ladies and the positive meetings we have 2x a month!) I second listening to some girl power music when you get up and shower and pick out clothes. Foundations help keep eye and cheek colors on as well as face spray! (Basically "hair spray" for the face to keep it on through sweat, tears, etc.) also, use a creme eyeshadow as your base to keep powdered shadows on! Helps with the smokey eye look that's in now too! Hmm... The only other suggestion I have with make up is to have a great cleaning routine. Those electronic brushes are awesome at getting rid of dead skin and cleaning pores that make you look older and keep makeup from staying on.
I never loved mani/pedis, but I do now! I've always been a hangnail biter that leaves small patches of sores around my nail beds but with mani's I have all that professionally cut away and it's not a problem.
I also subscribed to la vida massage parlor (I believe they are a chain store) and for 40$ a month I get an awesome 60min massage. Much needed for a new momma!!!
I've got long hair which falls naturally in scruffy waves. I'm fine with that but when I want to look more "done":
I wash it, use conditioner from the neck down to ends, leave it in while I finish my shower then rinse out. Towel as a turban until I'm dressed, ruffle over with a towel, tangle-tamer it then put it up in a bun to sleep (real bun made of just hair, not a sock bun or a donut). When it's dry/next day, I take the bun out and run a brush through to get super-shiny loose waves.

I'm pretty sure my dad has a lifetime supply of that stuff right next to his 68 boxes of Irish spring bar soaps and old spice aftershave.

Also her blog/website is amazing with makeup tricks. It seriously has changed how I look at makeup!
