Anyone delivered at Hoag, or having their upcoming delivery there? My husband and I are taking the Prepared Childbirth Class in a couple weeks, and it seems like a lot of time (3 classes at 2.5 hours each!) so I was wondering what they cover, and if it's informative, or just giving out info that pretty much every pregnant woman has already read on the internet.
Thanks ladies!
Re: Hoag - Newport Beach
That being said the Prepared Child Birth Class was the world's biggest waste of time! We did the 8 hours weekend one. There was about 2 hours worth of valid information (ie breathing tips, what the baby may look like after birth, the babies first bath, what and epideral is like, etc). The other 6 hours was a nurse telling us stories about her grandkids, a series of breaks and technical issues with speakers. If you have held a baby before and have a plan for pain management save your money and your time!
If you send me your email address I'm happy to scan my training book to you. The most helpful part of that training was a couple different breathing styles in the book and a massage my husband gave me during breathing practice which was awkward on a stage where very pregnant women attempted to fake labor.
That being said, I would HIGHLY recommend the Baby Savers Class. It was informative, short and worth every penny (I had to use it on my choking infant). I would also recommend the hospital tour which is free. Hope that helps and Congrats on the baby!

Mine is Dr. Candace Howe who partners with Dr. Maslovaric. I'm not really needy or picky, but I like them. I know they have gotten some complaints regarding their office staff though.
