We really like the name Max. Now we are trying to decide whether to give him the formal name Maxwell and just call him by Max for short. What is everyone's thoughts as to Max v. Maxwell?
Kllopez - what is your son's middle name? Are you happy with your name choice? Did you get any criticism over the name choice. I really like it - I just think it's not as common and I feel like everyone has an opinion and we're not going to tell anyone the name until we name him. So mentally preparing for getting annoying name comments.
I like Maxwell and calling him Max. Gives him a choice later if he'd like to be called Maxwell, and also makes for a good "ok now mommy's serious!" tone ("MAXWELL. WHY IS YOUR ROOM SUCH A MESS?!" hahaha

Wow - this is my third posting on the bump ever. Wasn't aware that there was a separate thread for names. If your patience is worn thin by postings on a message board, I suggest that you don't have children
@janinedg I have lots of patience for children (especially the one that is currently in my uterus). Thank you for your concern for my baby though. While you're at it, could you suggest a change in my career as well? I am a teacher. What I do not have patience for is people who jump on a board of women who have been supporting one another for the past six months (gone through quite a bit emotional stuff together) and show up to ask us to name their baby.
Unfortunately, my hormones are raging today and you are among a group of random people who have popped up in the past week out of the blue.
Okay okay. We've been flooded with name threads lately from lurker/newbs. It happens. I don't think we need to rag on each one. I means, at least she has normal names to consider! :-P
Not for nothing, we were all newbs once. Hopefully she will stick around and participate in other threads, but if she doesn't, that is her prerogative.

Most everyone answered your question with plenty of rainbow and sunshine shits even though we get a ton of these random posts (I'm guessing it's because at least your suggestions were not made up and were spelled correctly -- so kudos for that!). One person suggests the name board (a great resource) and you get your panties in a twist?
What you said was out of line (the part about she shouldn't have children).
I was honestly going to answer this without snark because I really like both of those versions of the name, but now...

My little brother's name is Max and he has always said that he would change it to Maxwell if he had the money and the time to go to the courthouse. Basically Max is really informal and if you are in a formal situation (ie applying for jobs) you may want to sound a bit more professional.
You can still call him Max 100% of the time if he is Maxwell. It would be more for formal situations than anything.

But....
Really....
I suggest posting your question here: https://forums.thebump.com/categories/baby-names
Lucky I can't mobile gif because my patience on threads like these has really worn thin.

Sorry not sorry.
For the record though, OP, don't say you feel bad for someone's children. Or suggest to a pregnant woman that she shouldn't have them.
