Dizziness (or first trimester problems)?

FTM, 33w1d. My main first trimester symptom was dizziness, and it's back! I'm not dehydrated. I drink at least 10 glasses of water a day! Plus 1-2 glasses of gatorade (as mom suggested). I have minimized my caffeine & sodium intake (no soda, coffee, tea. very little canned food, lunch meat, or anything salty). I'm at a healthy weight, bp, everything. Is this normal? I can barely stand some times much less walk. It started around week 30 and has gotten progressively worse.

Is anyone else getting really dizzy? Or are you experiencing any of your first trimester symptoms just like you were in your 1st trimester?

**The updated app on my phone won't open, so I haven't been on in a while. I did do a search, but came up with nothing (most results were on the 1st trimester board). I apologize if this is a repeat thread.
Didn't your mother teach you, "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all." Let's all (me too) try to remember this. Thank you.

Depression is ugly. Depression without meds is uglier. Robin Williams would agree with me.

Re: Dizziness (or first trimester problems)?

  • Completely normal. Baby's getting bigger and putting pressure on all sorts of nerves and blood vessels. I get dizzy too when I get up from sitting or if I stand too long. Make sure you take your time when getting up and take breaks as needed from standing/walking. Also, make sure you're eating something every 2-3 hours to keep your blood sugar levels stable.

  • I have naturally lower blood pressure and it has been very very low but only at certain times so it's not usually caught on a doctors office BP check. It's caused a lot of dizziness and nearly passing out when I'm in a hot place, standing in line for a long time, or just wake up. I'd get a BP cuff from the pharmacy and check your BP the next time you're feeling lightheaded. Have you had your iron levels checked? I know that can also cause the same symptoms.

  • I'll ask about my iron levels and be sure to take my vitamins more regularly. Thanks @alanaw121

The dizziness occurs randomly. I woke up dizzy and stayed that way for about 6 hours. I sometimes get dizzy because I stand up too quickly, but more frequently it occurs no matter what position I'm in. About half of the time, I'm just sitting on the couch relaxing when I get dizzy. Idk. it's just weird.

And, @GingerGiraffe yes, some women on this board seem to not let things go. They post pretty rude comments (like a high schooler) instead of just ignoring the post (like an adult). Sometimes, it's borderline bullying. It's also not very welcoming to FTM who have no clue as to what they're doing.

  • Borderline harassment. How about you just leave me alone? Pregnancy is hard enough without you harassing me.

  • I'm also a FTM and feeling many of the same symptoms I was experiencing during the first trimester, and my doctor said it was totally normal. I find myself feeling "oozy," for a lack of a better term, quite often, especially when the baby is in a weird position!

If it's making you nervous, I would call your nurse's line just to check. Even if friends or people on The Bump reassure me, I always feel more comfortable hearing it from a professional. :)
  • Thanks @bohemianic It's nice to hear that I'm not alone! I think it might be when he's in a weird position because we can't seem to relate the dizziness to dehydration, sugar levels, heat, or anything else for that matter! It's incredibly random!

As for the rude people who keep commenting, I am suffering from depression. It's getting bad and I'd like to make it through without medication. I'd appreciate it if y'all would actually be supportive. **If you can't be supportive or helpful, then please don't respond to my posts.** I've gotten very little support from any of you. People have made more hurtful comments (that are just not productive at all) than good comments on my posts. That is why I called those people horrible and bat shit crazy. Making hurtful comments to someone who is in a really bad place makes you a horrible person. Should I mention Robin Williams??

  • .... Nobody here is harassing you. As @gingergiraffe stated, you got apologies and support since your initial post. You really can't dictate what people can or cannot say on an Internet forum as long as they are following the TOU.

As for the dizziness, yes, I'm frequently dizzy and have been since the first tri. My doctor said that my blood pressure sometimes drops and that's what caused my fainting spells. He said there was nothing to really do about it but make sure that I am not standing for long periods of time, so that I don't fall.
