Food Allergies

I'm so bummed today.  DS was diagnosed with a peanut allergy when he was 18 months old.  We had some blood work done, and his reaction has increased 10 times from the last test that was done 4 years ago (he's 13).  On top of it, LO had broken out in hives around her mouth after eating scrambled eggs.  I had her tested today, and she tested positive for an egg allergy.  Now 2 out of my 3 kids have EpiPens!  The doctor said a predisposition to food allergies runs in families, but that family members are not always allergic to the same thing.  He tested her for peanuts, and that was negative.

  • That sucks but be thankful you know what they are allergic to.  We have epi pens too and have no clue what hes allergic to..we did all the testing and it all came back negative.. we had a reaction so bad that his whole face swelled up and had to be rushed to teh ER! I worry all the time!

That was exactly the reaction my son had to peanuts. His eyes were so swollen the skin of his eyelids were actually turned inside out.  It was something out of a horror movie!  My LOs blotchy hives around her mouth and cheeks after the eggs were nothing compared to the peanut reaction.  Hopefully they can figure out the culprit for your LO.

  • I'm really sorry to hear. Food allergies can be so scary.
