Anyone else having cravings for things they've never even tried? I'm craving artichoke dipped in butter and I am thinking that it would taste amazing. I have seen people do this, but how would I prepare it?
Like a whole artichoke? My mom used to make this all the time. You steam the artichoke and then you flavor the butter. Usually my mom would do one lemon butter and one garlic butter and we would dip the leaves in and eat the fleshy end only. The best part is really the heart though. so good. I've craved swiss chard during this pregnancy even though I had never had it before, now it's one of my favorite vegetables!
swiss chard is the best. I saute it with olive oil, garlic and salt and it's to die for.
Yes!! This is how I prepare any and all leafy greens (spinach, kale, collards, chard, beet, dandelion...I could go on!)--can't get enough! Also red pepper flakes are great to add in too
We love greens in my house and pretty much always make them this way! (mostly b/c it's so easy). I like experimenting with new recipes as well, but I haven't had the energy lately to do that. I'm sticking to the quick and easy favorites for now.
If you're going to steam artichokes you might want to make it worth your while and make two, there's not a lot of food on an artichoke
My mom used to steam them in water and let us dip in mayo, but I discovered this recipe recently and I love it with no dipping sauce because the steaming broth is so flavorful
I had a kid free evening! and rather than do something fun baby had me walk to the store to get stuff to make pearl barley salt pork kale soup ... .is that even a thing? Wtf baby! why! just why!
I bought a cannoli at the store, but I'm pretty sure I need to try a more authentic one. It was tasty, but it's filling was chocolatey. I thought it was supposed to be a white colored filling?
I keep wanting a fried egg. After weeks of craving one, I made it and didn't like it. I only like egg yolks in scrambled eggs. I pop it out in a hardboiled egg. Why my body thinks I would like it fried, I don't know, but it's wrong, lol.
haven't had any craving for something new this pregnancy but with # 5 after going 20+ years without eating seafood, hubs and I were out to dinner and he got a lobster tail...it looked beyond delicious and well I ate it. I then started buying crab legs and having them at home...have never looked back since .
Still immune to tickers.

The store, you had a chocolate one? No no hunny! The best ones are the authentic ones you can get from little Italian restaurants. Try one of those and forget you ever had a grocery store one.
Re: Craving Something I've Never Had
I want it ALL. And maybe some garbanzo beans thrown in for good measure
Guess I need to try more stuff!!
