If you have an older kid, afternoon quickies ?

Ethan doesn't nap anymore. He hasn't since Sean was born. DH was looking for an afternoon quicky today, but of course Ethan was around. DH said to just close our bedroom door and be fast. I couldn't think of any reason we'd close Ethan out of our room. What do other people do? Wait? Close the door?

I feel weird asking this. I hope it's not a weird question.

I'm waiting for the kid to fall asleep as I type this. For the older one I'd think a new movie or random new game would work. Good luck!

Maya moving to a toddler bed has really messed with our sex, as evidenced by my various posts trying to figure out how to fix it. Nap sex is limited, morning sexy is out and I hate bedtime sex.

I wouldn't do it while she is awake because I'd be afraid she'd come in or even knock and say "mommy" which would ruin it for me.

@BeebopandBuddy‌ yeah I think Ethan would knock and try talking to us. I think it wouldn't be worth it.

I did order one. We've been doing well the couple of weeks so we haven't looked at it though.

We used to put a movie on for keagan. Mid day movies are a luxury so it grabbed his attention. He did come upstairs once but we heard him on the stairs and pretended we were napping.

Movie. We do that all the time, this morning included. We put on the movie, sometimes give a treat that we aren't afraid anyone will choke on, run to the bedroom and shut the floor. And we're back out in 5 minutes. We have mastered the quickie.

One of my best friends realized that her parents' "You can watch as much TV as you want Saturday mornings!" rule was actually....yeah.  It's kinda genius, really--making something usually off-the-table a special treat for whenever you two want to make time for that.  Like "special afternoon movie" or whatever.  Fully behind that idea.

They share a room . We may have to try that though.

Especially if you are starting school, you'll need him to have rest time to do "homework".

We are no good at quickies and I'm too paranoid DS will walk in, pound on the door, etc. so that would not aid in the quickness!

We do it about one morning a week and then I just suck up the exhaustion one or two other nights a week.
