I am 30w5d today. I had my biweekly OB visit yesterday.....and got dropped. He discharged me from his practice. Why? Because he told me if by 36 weeks my LO is 7.5lbs or more, I must have a c-section because I am too obese to have a vaginal birth to a live baby. I do not have GD, my BP is perfection, but I'm "obese". Fuck him. So now, with all my emotions swirling, the stress of prepping for our first baby, work, life, etc., I have to find a new OB. QOTW: nope, nothing of the such. Luckily, I have a hubby who is pretty much super man (and a mom who lives 30 minutes away and would just LOVE to come help cook, clean, anything :)

Me:Hypothyroid DH: Type II diabetic. Together since 03/2007, Married 10/2011, D/C bc 10/2011. TTC: 11/2011. Charted BBT and CV along with OPK 10/2011-02/2012 Baseline labs 02/2012 WNL, SA 03/2012: botched sample by lab - destroyed hubby's confidence. 04/2012 Clomid 05/2012 Clomid 06/2012 Clomid 07/2012 Clomid and Ovidrel 08/2012 Ovidrel (I never knew that I was supposed to be monitored while on meds...I never was. I asked for u/s and other tests to see why we weren't getting pregnant, doc just kept giving me meds and telling me to go to his church for a "laying of hands") Stopped all monitoring/testing/temps, etc, Sex became a chore and we started to grow apart. At 12 mos I decided to look for another doc. 02/2013 consult with new doc....3 days later testing began...u/s, all good, HSG: all good, labs: all good, ovulating, etc. Started on Pregnitude. 04/2013 failed attempt for SA, 05/2013 failed attempt SA. 12/2013 SA: 3% morph, abnormal functionality. DH started Pycnogenol. RE consult 01/15/2014.

    ALL Welcome :)

I'm devastated for you! OMG!  Did the office at least give you any referrals?  Talk to people you know....family, friends, neighbors.....find out who they have and call them ASAP!  It might be a blessing in disguise as you want a physician you have faith in and who will support YOU!  So sorry and will add a few extra prayers for you as you need to keep your stress down.

Again with forgetting to post my own update...

35 weeks today. Saw the MFM on Monday and he confirmed what my OB had told us, but in a more reassuring way. I suck at modified bed rest, and my Mom and DH kept telling me I have to think of myself as a princess, so I've started wearing my wedding tiara as a reminder. :) I'm back to the OB tomorrow, and next week will settle into the routine of OB on Tue, MFM on Fri. I feel fine, which is what makes bed rest so annoying. And the nesting instinct is starting to kick in, but I can't *do* anything...alas.

This Sunday we will pick up a bassinet bought for cheap on FB, then have a car seat installer come to our house because hubby can't get away during the week to go to the police station. Wednesday we have a handyman coming to assemble the crib and dresser for us because we are not handy types at ALL. And we are meeting with a lawyer to do wills and stuff.

QOTW: we have a housekeeper who comes once a week already.. My parents will stay with us from Munchkin's arrival through the first week of October. After that, we may have the housekeeper come twice a week if I feel I need the extra help with laundry and cleaning...just dunno yet. DH wants to have a night nurse, but I am hoping to breastfeed and so I'm going to have to wake up anyway, so I don't really see the point. Hubby is worried about sleep. I really hope not to move into Munchkin's room but that may be the only solution if DH is getting too little sleep to function at work, given that he's the sole breadwinner right now, and he has a trial to prepare for in early Nov, so prep work begins just as my parents leave.

  • Hope everyone is well! I'm going to pop back in tonight to read updates.

@marnief I can take breaks during the day since I work at home, but it just drags out the day. We will just keep trucking along!

How far along are you? 29 weeks, 6 days
Upcoming appointments? A cervical check next week, then on to NSTs!
Any updates to share? Nothing too big. My mom and sister were having a lot of fun watching my belly jump all over the place last weekend.
How are you feeling? Pretty good still. I've hit the point where I'm getting up at least once a night to pee and I hate it!

QOTW: Do you plan to have a night nurse, a cleaning service, or other paid help after the LO(s) come(s)? Nope, but we are all hands on deck! ILs live 30 minutes away and will be around all the time. Once we figure out how much time DH is going to take off, my mom is going to take a week off his first week back to come stay with us. I'm sure she will be down on the weekends too since she is only 1.5 hours away.

  • Thanks for running a great check in marnief.

How far along are you?  I'm 37w 1 day

Upcoming appointments?  Just had an appointment yesterday, so seeing the OB weekly.  Cervix still thick and baby isn't moving anytime soon.

Any updates to share?  Nothing really, ready to get this show on the road!

How are you feeling?  I'm feeling pretty good, although the swelling in my feet has gotten a lot worse.   I had to go into the office this week (I normally work from home) and made the mistake of wearing shoes.  My feet were so swollen at the end of the day i had to push down the back of the heel and wear my flats as '"slipper". I'll be wearing my roomy and still work appropriate sandals tomorrow.

QOTW: Do you plan to have a night nurse, a cleaning service, or other paid help after the LO(s) come(s)?  We are planning on having the house cleaned about a week before the baby is born.  Depending on how we feel, we may have them come out biweekly.

  • Hello all! I'd like to be added please. I'm 28 weeks today (I guess yesterday, being after midnight). My due date is 10/23. We are expecting a little boy to be named Manny.

My next check up is later today. I'm actually at the hospital labor & delivery now. My dog accidentally jumped on my belly when I got into bed tonight. Doc wanted me to get checked out. Baby is doing great, but I'm being monitored for a few hours anyway. Better safe than sorry. I am so relieved to hear his stable heart beat.

QOTW: We don't plan on any paid help after LO comes. Except daycare when I go back to work. My MIL is coming up from Florida for a month after baby is born to help.
Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism DH: 35 - SA is good Married since 2010 (together since 2006) TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married). No pregnancies yet. May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.
  • @hopeful1029 - how rude! that really sucks and I'd be annoyed too. Hopefully you can find a new OB who is more supportive.
@marnief - wearing your wedding tiara! lol, that's great!
@1983lindsey - I had something similar a couple weeks ago. The first one stopped me in my tracks when I was out for a walk and took my breath away. Next day happened on and off throughout the day. Dr said it's totally normal. I"m not worried if he's not.

How far along are you?  35w6d
    Upcoming appointments?
weekly NST and appointments now until LO arrives!
    Any updates to share?
First NST was today and it went really well. He was moving around like crazy which made me feel better.
    How are you feeling?
Still irritable, it's a good thing no one's talked to me much today.  :) Getting up 2x a night to pee. Also I've found I actually am more comfortable sleeping without a pillow between my knees or under my belly. Weird. I'm glad I didn't go buy a body pillow. Other than laying down, I can't seem to be comfortable. I sit for a while and want to stand and then after standing I want to sit. Repeat.

QOTW: Do you plan to have a night nurse, a cleaning service, or other paid help after the LO(s) come(s)?
No paid help, both MILs don't leave near us and we only have 1 extra room so we're trying to figure out which one is coming when to help out.  And there's a couple other family friends that have said they'll stop by and help with whatever so that will be nice.

  • Thanks for the great check in, @marnief! Love that you're wearing the tiara. Go girl!

    How far along are you?
    35w3d

    Upcoming appointments?
Internal exam with OB on Tuesday, u/s to monitor growth and first NST on Wednesday

    Any updates to share?
I keep hearing from OB baby is measuring a bit on the big side. Just hoping she stays at a reasonable weight. I don't want to be induced early or to have a c-section, though I'll obv. do what it takes to bring home a healthy baby.

Also, GOOD NEWS about my mom! She finally was released from the hospital after 5 weeks -- with no leukemia cells left in the bone marrow (!!!), and is happy at home. There's a long road ahead of continuing treatments to make sure she gets into remission and stays there, but just heard she'll definitely be able to come to the hospital to see and hold baby whenever she arrives. I'm THRILLED!

    How are you feeling?
Not sleeping well thanks to indigestion and a really annoying and persistent pain in my mid back. But I know that's to be expected, so rolling with it and just loving feeling all of LO's movements.

QOTW: Do you plan to have a night nurse, a cleaning service, or other paid help after the LO(s) come(s)?
We just hired a cleaning service this month -- biweekly. OMG, I love it so much. We'll continue with that for as long as we think we can. Other than that, it'll be just DH and me.

Began TTC #1 in Sept. 2010. I was 33, DH was 36.. Dx with DOR and slight MFI (8/4/11).

    Test results (after first RE visit 6/21/11): 7DPO b/w: Progesterone = 11.3; CD3 b/w: FSH = 10.1 mUnits/mL, E2= 52.0 pg/mL, AFC: 6; SIS Ultrasound: Uterus great, tubes clear! AMH: 0.3

    IUI#1 June 2012 (Follistim/HCG trigger): BFN
    IUI#2 July 2012 (Follistim/HCG trigger): BFN
    IUI#3 August 2012 (Follistim/HCG trigger): CP (Beta #1: 4.61, Beta #2: 1.0)
IUI#4 October 2012 (Follistim, ovulated before trigger, missed IUI, converted to TI): BFN
    Jan. 2013 New RE
IVF #1 June 2013 MDL Protocol. Converted to IUI#4.1. (High E2 and 3+ mature follicles at first monitoring.) BFFN
IVF #1.2 August 2013 Stop Lupron Protocol with Human Growth Hormone added. 17R, 14M, 9F (with ICSI), 2 embryos (decent quality - grade 2) transferred on day 3, 2 blasts made it to freeze. Beta 8/26. BFFN :'(

    FET #1 December 2013 Last try! Transferred 2 blasts -- graded 3AB and 4BB. Beta #1 (12/27/13) 530. Beta #2 (12/30/13) 1876. BFP! One bean. EDD 9/3/2014!

We welcomed the most beautiful baby girl into the world on September 11, 2014!

  • It's been a while since I checked in & this will be my last. Sorry this is a long one but I need to get out my feelings! :)

    How far? 40 weeks!
Update: So, baby was frank breech at 28w u/s and my practice doesn't do anymore u/s after that. As time went on, by 36w, my OB was sure that baby flipped based on external exam, and more recently, cervix checks. I continued to worry though. I just felt like the spot right under my ribs was the perfect hard round shape - like a head. And the nurse kept finding the heartbeat up near my belly button. But they shrugged off my concerns and convinced me that the round spot was his feet. Then Thursday at the 39w4d appt, again high heartbeat and this time (thankfully) my belly finally did one of those crazy contortions where my little bowling ball shape was incredibly obvious from the outside. This is what I kept experiencing at home and told them about. I just said, look look, and the OB felt immediately and said, ok we'll do an u/s just to be sure. Finally! Two minutes later, she put the wand on me and instantly said, yep! She turned the screen and there he was, skull right under my ribs... a few days before my due date. I immediately started balling and felt so upset that I didn't do more to confirm it and demand an u/s earlier. I would've tried things like spinning babies and maybe an ECV. But to find out so late is very hard for me. The OB said there's hardly a chance any of that would work now - he's just too big and I would likely go into labor with a breech & need an emergency c/s. They tried to convince me to do the c section on Friday but it was late in the day Thursday and I just couldn't do it - I needed more time to resolve my feelings. So, I'm scheduled for Monday at 9a. Believe me, I know that a c/s isn't the end of the world. Just that we're healthy is all that matters. And I am excited to see my baby so so much! And I know the likelihood of the same outcome is high even if I had known earlier. I just wish that I had advocated better for myself. Trust your gut ladies & don't be timid about asking for what you want!

I'm a bit scared of the surgery and I'm hoping I can just pull the same mental strength together that got me through all of the IVF procedures. DH & my mom have been a huge source of encouragement & I'm mostly cheered up. Just ready to get off this roller coaster & focus on nothing but my LO.

Hello!  A little late updating but wanted to check in.  (See below for pics in next post!  )

I am 31 weeks and 2 days along! Yeah!  Attached are a few pics of my husband and I on our 2nd wedding anniversary the night before we turned 31 weeks.  I am feeling good and am in the home stretch.  Less than 7 weeks away from cuddling our two miracles!  9/23 was given to me as a my cut off date. Can't wait!  Could go sooner.  Booked all of my NST's and have all of my OB appts booked as well.  The biggest question will be if my dr. allows me to start my school year or not.

QOTW:  We will hire someone to help clean for a big once over and then family will be assisting us with regular cleaning.  No night nurses or family will be staying with us.  We are excited to keep up together as a couple and share the duties of night time attention for the boys.  The daytime help is appreciated and will enable us to find our way as a couple.
