Heel pain

For the past couple of weeks I've started to have some really bad heel pain.  I try to wear shoes with lots of support but it doesn't seem to help.

Anyone else?  Any tips?

It's so bad that I have to go flip the laundry upstairs and the thought of going upstairs to do so makes me want to cry.  :(

Re: Heel pain

  • Can you have DH check to see if you have a callous, bone spur or some other issue happening on your heel? If neither of you can find something maybe check with someone to see if you're walking differently and that is causing an issue? Wish I had a real answer for you because foot pain is never fun :( FX you can figure out what's going on quickly.

  • Thanks.  I'll have DH look this afternoon.  I should have asked my OB yesterday but didn't think of it.  I may send her a quick email.

Heel pain is a a common symptom of plantar fasciitis which is common for pregnant women due to our ligaments loosening in preparation for child birth. I'd look up stretches and exercises and do them daily. Also, a good pair of supportive shoes will be will worth the expense in coming weeks as when I had this with my last pregnancy it lasted until about 5 weeks post partum.
Thanks!  I'll look up some stretches!

  • I had plantar fasciitis and had to do those stretches with an exercise band. I have pulled the bands out again...they're like $7.

Go get a pedicure, they can do a mean massage !

  • @missnacholover‌ I have been having this for a couple weeks, too! I chalked it up to walking too much in cheap flip flops but plantar faciitis makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, I thought it may be flip flops but I've been sure to wear sneakers unless it's a super quick errand!

  • I agree with pp about stretches. I also spent the money on DrScholl inserts the ones you have to stand on the map. I love them!! I am on my feet at work 10+ hours a day. I literally would cry when I got home. I love that they also fit in most of my shoes! I wear a size 6 (my feet are the only small thing about me)

I've experienced the same thing over the last couple weeks. In thinking it's the flip flops too. I do notice that I get a cramp sometimes in the middle of my feet. I went and got a pedicure and foot massage today and it helped a lot. I'm leaving the flip flops alone for awhile lol

  • I literally just looked up plantar faciitis yesterday.  I understand your pain.  I go to bed with achy feet and wake up the next morning not feeling much better.  UGH! I hope you start to feel better!!!

  • So glad it's not just me. My heels have hurt me by the end of the night and sometimes I wake up with it. Yesterday I went to the supermarket in my "comfy" flip flops and came home and they hurt me. I don't remember this with my first.
  • I have found that I NEED to wear my slippers around the house in the middle of summer just because of the padding it gives my feets.

  • Try stretching by standing a couple feet or so from a wall facing it, keeping your feet flat on the floor (don't let your heels lift up) lean into the wall ( kind of like a wall push up) keeping you legs and back straight. Stay in this inclined position and hold for 30 sec to 2 min.
  • Glad I'm not the only one.  I'm wearing my sneakers all day today while I do stuff around the house for extra support.  But my feet already hurt.  *sigh*

Yep, me too.  I wear slippers all year, orthoheel ones in the winter and ones like these (though I don't have this pair exactly) in the summer.  I'm very careful about what I wear on my feet because plantar fasciitis sucks and takes so long to go away!  I think pregnancy weight gain is  also partly to blame, it puts more pressure on your feet.

  • Yeah, I definitely need new slippers.  I used to have some amazing ones from brookstone but they were $50 and when it came time to replace, i got cheap and just got some cheapies.  I think it's time to invest in the fancy ones again!
