Same here. Just found out that while paps are normally covered 100% any other time, my insurance isn't fully covering this one because I'm pregnant. I hadn't had one in over a year and it was the same test that is normally run (I called the dr. to check) so it should be covered in full. Dr's office is going to try to help me get it straightened out but why does everything have to be a production!?
My insurance approved a biological medicine that has to be shipped to my home every month for an autoimmune disease i have. I have failed all other drugs and if i flare again I'll have no choice but to have surgery. Everything was fine for 3 months then suddenly i got a call stating i wouldn't receive the medicine...the medicine i can't skip doses on. Well because all of a sudden my insurance didn't want to approve the medicine i missed a dose which caused a small flare which caused dehydration which caused contractions...it finally pulled through but it was such a pain in the ass. And when it finally shipped i missed the shipment so i had to track it down before themeds froze.
I agree, insurance can be a real pain (so can FSA's) and even good insurance through your employer is mega pricey now. It still amazes me (since I'm an old lady in her 30's) that adults can be covered until they are 26 under their parents plans.
Proud Mom to the ZooCrew - Jack 3 years old and Joey 21 months.
Excited and delighted to welcome the 3rd member of the ZooCrew in 2015! We can't wait to meet you Matthew Henry!
I didn't have insurance last year when I was pregnant and we lost our son at 20 weeks. Trying to do all that with no ins sucked but luckily the hospital we had him at is a non profit hospital and they have this 'fund' that helps those in a hardship situation. Loosing a baby with no ins. must be considered that because we paid next to nothing for all that happened. So I hear ya. No ins. sucks just as much.

amen! My doctor is from India and told us today (joking but serious) its because we live in a society that is money driven. lol

that sucks. I hate dealing with crap like that. Glad you didn't go into labor. I told the ins. company that if they don't approve this med which stops preterm labor and I go into labor, I'm calling them back!
I feel for you ladies who have to fight for things to get paid. I live in Canada so I take it for granted that I can just go to the doctor or hospital and never get a bill. (my work pays for everything the health care doesn't) I know we pay for it with our taxes, but it just seems easier then having to submit and fight and be declined ect.
@Alygohome Don't put too much faith in the Canadian system at all times! I spent a good part of my morning on the phone with first my extended health provider trying to figure out why my meds that they have covered for 7 years suddenly aren't covered today and then BC Pharmacare trying to figure out why they suddenly suspended my account.
Yes I got it worked out right away but still! Got to love stupid clerical errors!
I hear you! My husband is in the military, though our insurance is good is a royal PIA. One of the hospitals here doesn't let military have private rooms, seems crazy.

wait what/!?!?!! just because the military is involved, you don't get a private room??? What hospital doesn't have private rooms?? Isn't that a HIPPA violation???? and you would think if the word 'military' is thrown around, people bend over backwards and I mean that with all due respect. My brother just got out of the marines and when we were with him in public, it was amazing how many people thanked him and gave him a free drink or a discount at a store or whatever....I'm so upset about the no private rooms because....that's bs! What state do you live in???

Um, no, it isn't discrimination. The insurance the military provides probably doesn't cover the cost of private rooms.
There are many, many hospitals where room-sharing with one or two other women is still fairly common practice.
Having a baby =/= you get a private hospital room.
@dani0329 - you could check to see if you could pay to "upgrade" to a private room - that's what our area hospitals generally do.
wow I had no. My apologies for my ignorance...maybe I'm just spoiled with all the hospitals around here that have ALL private rooms...no matter what you are in for...I know I'd have to deal with it if I had to share a room but I think that would kinda suck. IMO. Not trying to be rude.

It is because of insurance like PP stated. I called and asked about paying for an upgrade, and was told they would look into it. We have 3 major hospitals in a 20 mile radius, one that I wouldn't go to. I spoke with my doctor about the remaining 2 hospitals, and took a tour of each. The double room hospital is the biggest, but the other also has a NICU and my doctor assured me either hospital we choose is a good choice. Since doctor has rights at both, we chose the one with private rooms. Tricare generally takes a long time to pay their bills, and I always end up on the phone straightening bills out after going to the doctor.
Minor problem in the grand scheme of things.
@MrsMuq -It is a shame! I have never heard someone with tricare have nice things to say, but I guess no insurance company leaves their customers with a good feeling!

In this case the office has to bill it as preventative so that is most likely office mistake on that one

Very few hospitals where we are would give you a private room as general practice, unless you are on say the gastrointestinal wing or cardio wing. Most of the time you room-share. It is simply too cost prohibitive for hospitals to give all patients private rooms.
A lot of hospitals in my area have gone through renovations over the last 5 years or so to make the maternity wards- now called birthing centers - a more positive experience.
All the rooms are private and you deliver in the room you labor in. Its pretty nice and i am glad that there has been more of an effort to make these rooms a little nicer and the experience a lot less scary.
