My DD will be 18 months when my new LO arrives. My house has three bedrooms. Currently, my DD is in the middle room. We were team green and her room is pale yellow with a Lion King theme. We made it a little girly after she was born. Our third bedroom is vacant. I am unsure if I wanted to keep DD in this room or give her a personalized big girl room in the back bedroom and have the new baby stay in the middle room, since it's all set up for a baby. Also, I don't want to rush DD into a toddler bed. Any suggestions if I should buy a second crib? I plan to have the new LO sleeping in a rock and play the first couple months. So, DD will be around 21 months when we actually would need the crib.
I am in the same boat here. Funny thing, my DD nursery is also Lion King Theme, same comforter and everything. We were not Team Green, but had planned on keeping nursery the same for future children, so we wanted neutral. SO our current plan is to move DD to our 3rd bedroom. However, the logistics are driving me insane. Buy another crib? Not sure. We are thinking of buying this daybed with matching dresser.

Personally, I don't think I'd buy another crib since it wouldn't be used very long by your oldest. I would let the new baby sleep in a bassinet/cosleeper/RNP or whatever for a few months and during that time transition your other daughter to a toddler bed or a twin bed on the floor until she's big enough for a frame.
About sharing a room, I don't know. It would depend how well they both sleep because I wouldn't want them to wake each other up. My good friend has girls a little closer together than yours will be and she coslept with #2 until she was a little over one and then let them share a room with a crib and toddler bed and then evetually moved them both to a full bed. It works really well for them because the girls like to sleep together.
I know it's a lot of things to consider. I don't want my DD to think she got thrown into another room because of the new baby. I put DD In the crib at 3 months but I think I may wait longer this time around. My friends have kids around 18 months and they're already climbing out of their cribs on the lowest setting.
I love the Lion King theme. I just saw the pink Nala bed set and just had to get it! lol We also have the same due date.
@abenson3 we just bought that bed for our 2.5yo. It's not together yet but I'm super excited about it! Our nursery is gender neutral and will be reused for this baby. However DD will be 3 when LO arrives so she'll be ready (fingers crossed) for a big girl room!
My DD will be 28 months when this one arrives, so she's a little older. We went ahead and got her a "big girl bed" in June (when she was 22 months) - we just put a twin mattress and box spring on the floor so she can climb in and out by herself. We have a bed frame (that turns into bunk beds) for when she's ready for that transition but I feel more comfortable with this set up instead of a rail for now. We've kept the crib in her room and plan to use a basinet in our room for the first 2-3 months, then have DD and the new baby share a room.
We have three bedrooms, but it's so much easier to just keep everything as is (the third bedroom is a sewing room/spare bedroom). Plus, we just found out that LO is a girl and DH is already determined that we'll have them share a room until DD goes to college (he shared a room his whole life and if it was good enough for him, it's good enough for them by golly! :P).
