Nursery Dimensions

Do you ladies mind sharing the dimensions of the room you're using for your nursery and what furniture you're fitting in there?

There's two rooms we could use, one smaller than the other. H is insisting on using the smaller room for the nursery, but I want to use the bigger room. We used the nursery planner that someone posted the other day and it looks like all of the furniture would fit in the smaller room, but it would probably be pretty cramped in there. So I'm curious to know what size rooms everyone is working with.

Re: Nursery Dimensions

  • I think ours is approx 10 x 10. We'll have a crib, dresser which will have the changing station on top of it, an Ikea chair and foot stool and a small bookshelf. None of it has been put in the room but I think it will all fit well.

  • Ours is 9 x 11 1/2 with a small bump in in one corner that accommodates a built in for the hallway.

We are only having crib, glider and a dresser/changing table.

  • Ours is 10x13 and fitting crib, ikeas 2x2 cube bookcase, glider & side table as well as a dresser which doubles as our changer on top. There will still be lots of room to play in the middle.

  • Ours is 11x11, but the remodel isn't done yet, so no furniture is in it. We will have a crib, dresser, glider and ottoman for sure. I would like a separate changing table and a small bookshelf, too. I may end up nixing the bookshelf if I need the space.

  • Ours is about 12'x10'. We have two cribs, a dresser and will have a glider. That's about it. I plan to get a changing pad for on top of the dresser to save room.

  • The nursery will be roughly 8'x12' with a crib, glider with ottoman, changing table, and a very small chest of drawers. Depending on the furniture arrangement, there may also be a bookshelf. When she transitions to a big girl bed, we'll move it into the play room which is about 12'x14' with a dormer (and maybe even have the basement refinished to be the new playroom).
We opted for the smaller room as the nursery because we like the idea of having everything within arm's reach while she's tiny. Plus, it shares a wall with the master bedroom. My niece's nursery is even smaller (wee!) and it's working out just fine.
  • mine is 9x10, he has a crib, rocker, changing table, armoire and dresser

Our room is about 11x11 too, though we have a lot of weird angles and corners which is both an advantage and disadvantage.  It is going to be a shared space for us, it used to be an office/guest room (futon), but now will be an office (small desk and bookshelves) and nursery.  We are going to try to fit in a streamlined crib, small dresser with changing topper and a glider with a nursing stool instead of ottoman along with our small desk and bookshelves.  It won't be a functional office, we just have nowhere else for that furniture to go.

  • Ours is 10x10, the same size as DD's.' room. Perfect size for a nursery, not so much a 6 year old girl with hoarding issues.
We will just have the crib (which has attached drawers and changing table) and a dresser.
In her room we fit a twin size bed, desk and dresser, with extra shelving and stuffed animal hammocks and its still crowded with the dollhouses and other princess necessities.
  • Mine is about 14X10  We will have a crib, dresser/changer and a glider.
  • Thanks for the feedback! The smaller room is about 9x10, the larger room about 10x14. I have a feeling we'll end up using the smaller room as the nursery and using the larger room as the guest room/office.
